this can happen in any poor (or not poor) community in the world. one person has to learn about this, get up and flip through the phonebook or scan the internet for their local resources, take a walk in a neighborhood and find the vacant lots and who owns them, talk to the neighbors.. whatever it takes, anybody, somebody must do it. one person planting grows to two and two grows to many people working as a community, solving poverty, social dysfunction, and poor health.
Permaculculture can be the answer. Food should be available to anybody for free on this planet, the same as clean air and clean water. It is rediculous that some people are deprived of food when there is so much space to grow food.
