  • demise. those are carbs back in my life. and I believe they make me crazy. MY doctor too had said no more then 8 grams of sugar and I followed it to the tee! Just a week ago I recommitted to using my pouch tool and following the WLS basic rules. protein first, exercise, water and no snacking!! And I am giving up the sugar. I look forward to following your videos. back when I had WLS Youtube didnt exist. its wonderful!

  • Hi Katie, this has been the most honest WLS video I have ever seen. you are truely brave and beautiful. I am 10 yrs post op Gastric bypass. And yes although we can no longer eat a lot of heavy food we can eat "things" that slide down with lots of calories. For the last 6 years (after my son was born) I have maintained my weight. A victory for me BUT I am not at the goal weight I want to be at. over that time I started reintroducing those carbs... and I truely believe that is what has been

  • Great vid. The drinking is weird for me because i used to be a total drunk as well as being morbidly obese. I started getting ulcers after bypass when i was having 2 mixed drinks a week, so my doc doesn't let me drink more than once a month. I don't even like drinking any more.

  • Where are you? When is the wedding????????????

  • Thank you for being so honest in this video!

  • LOL @ salad and cheese sticks! I think we all strive for that... but reality is that we are the same mentally as before surgery and it will just always be a battle. I was a volume eater too... So I am the same in that I reach for airy carbs like popcorn, chips, and melty things when I lose control. So scary. This us why I'm starting 5 DPT today. I need to break the cycle!

  • my one emotion that causes me to run to the closest 7-11 is guilt. If I feel bad about dealing with the kids in a certain way or feeling bad about something that took place between me and my husband...it's always food that I go to.

that and eating alone. my two biggest hurdles.

love the ankle weight analogy. I think I need a few extra pounds added to mine!

    thanks for ANOTHER great video!

    Aviva

  • Thank you! Such a helpful video....it's soothing to know others do go through this. Thanks so much for posting!

  • Katie, what a great response video. I have always loved your videos for your refreshing honesty. The ankle weight analogy was fantastic. Hope all is going well with th wedding planning. Miss seeing your videos more often. Take care. Sheila :0)

  • LOL - I totally said those things in my video too. I'm totally guilty of being that person I was talking about. "You get plugged back in." Amen, sistah. Oh wow, I'm the same way - the easy carbs - cheezits, popcorn, I can eat a LOT of that stuff. I'll sit and watch TV with the box in my lap just eating mindlessly. I am also the same with alcohol. I use it sometimes, but I feel much more in control of that. Thank you so much for your support, I really appreciate it. Big hugs to you too!

  • Truth be told, (and I'm still a pre-opper, so what do I know) I think I will take food addiction AND WLS, rather than just food addiction alone.

Thanks fo laying it all out there. This just reaffirms what I already knew, that WLS isn't magic. It still takes work.

  • OMG popcorn & cheez-its are my TOTAL weaknesses too! HORRIBLY! I'm about to do a vid response to Taunia also. Thanks for keepin it real. I love it! :)

  • Katie, great video response! I love your analogy about the ankle weights holding the addiction back a little, SOOO true! Thanks for sharing!

  • I just replied to Taunia too. We are all together in this!!!

    Love you!

    Mandy :)

  • Great video Katie. Love the ankle weight analogy. Sure miss seeing your video's. You always make me smile.

  • @Tinab125 I agree!! The ankle weights - EXACTLY what it feels like!

  • What an awesome video!!! It is so important for people to know these things!!

  • great video Katie... it's good for people at all stages to see this, whether pre-op, newly post-op, or longer post-op... It's good to know what to expect, because then one can be mentally prepared and not shocked when it comes. I have learned so much from this community. Thank you for sharing your journey!

  • popcorn. I so understand the popcorn thing

  • what a nice video kate. so honest. waves~~~
