no need to set silent parameters within the xml and OCT as shown in the video!
Since i always use the OCT for MAK an minor settings, i totaly leave the Config.xml untouched.
Microsoft writes: "...because the parameters for a silent installation were configured in the Config.xml file, it is not necessary to also configure them when using the OCT. This is because the customizations that you define in Config.xml take precedence over those in the customization file created by using the OCT"
Great tutorial! I have a question...we ran it and it installed the first time but we forgot the UAC part and it asked to activate...so we corrected and uninstalled Office to try again, but now the computer doesn't seem to pick it up...is there a setting we are missing or will it not install a second time on the same computer?
this is the best tutorial i have seen, very impresive , we to also have to modify the uac for older files, if you ever start sellling install guides out me on the list , thia stuff is great and goes back to when everyone helped others out with answers, not a lot of trials and error all over the intenet, but something that a person use , again thank you very much
Hello, PeteNETLive I Would Like To Thank You For This Wonderful Tutorial EveryThing Went Smoothly Until I Came Across A Small Problem My Computers Run Windows xp SP3 My Domain Controller Runs Server 2008 Enterprise When I Deployed Everything Seems Ok At First The OFFICE 2010 Setup Wizzard appears on client machine startup and says wait ...prepareing nessicary files but then after a minute it dissapears and runs a bunch of commands to fast to read help me i went back and checked everything again!
Thanks for this. I'm looking to do a similar deployment in my org.
What do you do with UAC once office is deployed? We have a requirement to limit users from installing "non-standard" software and along with removing local admin rights, we want UAC to be active.
You must be a mind reader, because i have always wondered how admins deploy software over a network, i would assume in essance its the same for most MS application deployments ?
...and please don't turn of UAC. This realy can't be the way to go.
Office 2010 deployment via GPO should run smoothly when you follow corresponding technet article.
Make sure, the deployment share is properly configured (Install=Read Only, Logfiles=Read Write)
Thx for the detailed video by the way!
