  • I listened to walk the line and it was different could anyone what song does he sing at the end , thanks

  • This is so true!

  • One song! ?

  • Walk Hard's scene is better

  • Love how Luther pulls that solo out of his ass.

  • did he really sing?

  • @bleemster

Yes. So did Reese, surprised me too when I found out, they did pretty damn good.

  • All the lame videos people hit like just like Fred!! let this video only has 863 likes!!!

    Thats truly fucked up!!!

  • If we had more record producers like this, there wouldn't be half the trash music we hear on the radio today.

  • @rappy90 Cant thumbs up for some reason.. I agree!

  • @rappy90 yea there would..he said he records what sells, the crap today sells

  • I'll say this until I'm blue, but Joaquin shoulve won that Oscar!

  • @austinnelson626 -- He should have won two even. One of my fav actors - so truly credible in his roles. And h.o.t *uhm*.

  • props to grant and perkins who were able to play along to the song at spur of the moment, haha.

  • Remarkable scene

  • and the legend is born

  • who ever picked pheonix for this role, prolly got so many bitches after this

  • one of the best acting performances I have ever had they pleasure of watching. That performance and Leo Dicaprio in blood diamond are my top two. What a depiction of the great Johnny Cash Pheonix portrayed. Absolute entertainment throughout this film.

  • "It ain't got nothin to do with believin' in God, Mr. Cash. It has to do with believin' in yourself"

  • Amen to this whole clip

  • I like to think, if it wasn't for this guy, Johnny Cash probably wouldn't be who he is today.

  • @saxophonegirl101 I walk the line is legend... wait for it... dary.

  • Joaquin deserved the Oscar!

  • It sounded like people knew what good music was in their day.

  • plseas do say that

  • the man is

  • To those saying Johnny and June were ugly, they might think the same of you. You shouln't disrespect them like that. Joaquin and Reese obviously had much respect for them to take the parts and portray them so well.

  • @Big8535 Very well said! :-)

  • One of the best scenes in the movie---excellent performance. Musicians today should watch this and maybe they can take something from it.

  • he did johnny cash good

  • The moment he sold his soul

  • Great act by Roberts Dallas !

  • @breikin777 Dallas Roberts, to be precise. But you're dead right, a great act!

  • Toward the end the record producer had the look that expressed his thought, "I just found another superstar."

  • What a great scene. Such great lines coming from that studio man. On a par with an Al Pacino speech.

  • Extraordinary movie, extraordinary portrait, extraordinary actor. Like a Whopper, everything is extra.

  • Comment removed

  • to bad johnny cash didnt look like him hahhaha....johnny cash was ugly so was june

  • @xxbrokensinxxify haha its sad but true they were ugly as mud...i would probably like June and Johnny better if they looked like Reese and Joaquin. Johnny looked a little bit like Joaquin but June looked NOTHING like Reese...yes they were both very unattractive haha

  • I shot a man in Reno just for the lulz..

  • He just got told...

  • When he sings the Folsom prison blues, thats Johnny's voice. Thats the only part of the movie he lipsyncs.

  • @RAWRifyU Folsom Prison Blues is not Johnny Cash's voice it Joaquin's voice he actually sang those songs

  • i don't know who the supporting actor is here, but he is astounding

  • thanks for putting this on. Greatscene.

  • AND THE OTHER PERSON GOT SHOT IN RENO

  • ouh man, aciduzzu21... thank you for this video!

  • All right. Hold, please. Stop that. Stop your singing! Stop your singing this instant, young man! I will not have this in my studio! That's just a terrible, terrible... ...terrible, terrible "That's Amore." You have failed conclusively. And there is nothing that you can do... It's over. Nothing you can do that can make up for what you did to "That's Amore." ...here in this room that can turn that around.
  • whats the name of the gosple song

  • the two greatest , most honest , genuine give 100% to their craft entertainers in modern history

  • @toob247 I was there when it's happened ;)

  • great great great its like cash is singing through phoenix

  • joaquin will always, ALWAYS be my favorite actor

  • you can' beat that- jaoquin has got it bang on....

how many films about todays chart toppers in the next 50 years do we reckon??

  • lol he looks like a young mitt romney

  • 2 people are stuck in Folsom Prison.

  • @1telikit Actually a lot of prisoners in Folsom Prison, among others, liked Johnny Cash's music, and he would frequently play prison gigs.

  • @1telikit and the other 2 still play the gospel

  • gorgeous

  • what's the name of the first song? anyone?

  • @youngnigerian I Was There When It Happened. Surprisingly, Cash did actually record it on Sun Records.....but Sam Phillips rejecting it makes for better film drama

  • @Cyberpit2000 Thanks man, I find it a great song. I couldn't believe he rejected that one at first lol

  • @Cyberp Good point about the dramatic flair in the movie scene.. But who knows? Maybe Mr Cash went ahead and recorded it later on Sun because by then he could afford to and in some small way he get redemption for when Phillips first turned it down. lol

  • it's one of my favorite movies. He had a taugh life. his father never loved him, what can be worse than this

  • @20prettyliars i know who have a lot harder time than he has>

  • @Angelskittls420 you're right, me too,

  • a secret dig on the military and how it is like being in prison. AWESOME......Semper Fi

  • great acting Joaquin

  • Dallas Roberts, who played Sam Phillips as the record exec, gave an incredible performance in this scene.

  • why is that producer have a rams head on his tie?

  • The best, most significant, spiritual, profound scene in the whole movie. This part is so full of lessons in life. It pretty much sums up life and our purpose here : "if you got one song that would sum you up" that is the song you should sing.

  • @TheRealCristianLuca I'd sing either "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas, or "The Confessor" by Joe Walsh

  • @MrJohnisthename It's about singing your own song! you understood nothing from this clip...

  • @TheRealCristianLuca True. I always hear his words so i can remember the true reason why i choose to sing. A very wise man this producer.

    PS: Sorry my english :)

  • sorry that last comment made no sense, cuz no "man" could be JR

  • ya someone could have played johnny better actually

  • What song is it at beginning?

  • @Zerengin I Was There When It Happened

  • @dtremb2 thank you.

  • pro

  • jesus cant save me from johnny cash and his band

  • Joaquin and Reese sure can sing. I think its great they used their own vocals!

  • who the hell would dislike this

  • Love this Part..!!

  • Fantastic scene.

  • goosebumps!

  • best scene in the movie

  • awesome scene

  • Sam Phillips had a keen eye for talent.

  • @leafyutube and a keen ear in this case. :P lol

  • one of the greatest scenes in movies of all time, period.

  • I Like This Better Than The Original One Cuz this is wat it would sound like wen i was first sang

  • pure awesomeness

  • I have that same glass carboy for making home brew that they have as their water cooler!! GO CASH!

  • I love this scene! badass..

  • The look on Sam Phillip's face...he knows lightning in a bottle just walked into his studio!

  • greatest movie ever

  • He is a little flat.

  • He made my ovaries twitch at 3:33 - 3:36!

  • gives me shivers....

    great

  • goosebumps.

  • i love the Cash

  • Wow Imagine that, a song about loneliness, despair, oppression, crime, justice, murder, guns, prison, and even baby's and their mama's ....without a single cuss word. Rap singers should hear this.

  • @MrJohnisthename I take it you don't like cussing? Cause sometimes, in the heat of the moment, you get pissed off and when that happens sometimes you need words like '"fuck" and "shit" to get your point across weather it be political or personal or some other reason for emotions and its emotions like that that create art.

  • @satanichrist666 I have nothing against cussing, There are times when I myself cuss like a drunken Irish dock worker on strike. The point of my comment was that good music can be created without using profanity.

  • @MrJohnisthename Mainstream artists should hear this more like.

  • @MrJohnisthename I agree with you in a generalized sense. However I don't think it's fair to generalize all rap like that. People had things to rap about in the past, about inequality, injustice, and oppression. Now, and I totally agree with you, rap has been perverted through the music industry and most what you hear through the radio is exactly what you describe. How unfortunate.

  • @MrJohnisthename its called gangsta rap

  • @elcrazie1 I do like gangsta rap ....some more n others. sad to say my favorite is no longer living,.

  • @MrJohnisthename Whats wrong with swears?

  • @jazzyjeff1282 I suppose solecism in theory can be practiced because it is subversive of the order of civil policy. There's nothing at all wrong with swear words. Some of my favorite songs use them.. I'm just saying good music can be made without using swear words.

  • @MrJohnisthename guess you havent heard much rap..Typical comment from a person that "assumes" thats what all rap is about. o well.

  • @kimmie5026 No one "assumes" anything. If you want to talk about rap as a whole it is what he said. Can you find raps sung about church? Yes. That is not what is mainstream rap. The top albums from rap for the past ten years have been exactly what he said. Need me to email you the billboard charts? Or are you able to understand how to search this yourself? Typical comment from someone who "assumes" they can keep up with a conversation. Oh well.

  • @heynow123ism lol..well dont you sound silly, but that was a good attempt to make a valid point.Every effort counts.I do not debate on the internet,I laugh at ppl that do that, because its those same ppl that wouldnt dare make the comments to someone in person.Maybe if I was talking to you in my previous comment, I would feel the need to justify my statement.Or maybe I would care about what you were saying but since I wasnt....I dont. Now hush hush&let me enjoy Joaquin imitating Mr.Cash. Good day.

  • @kimmie5026 You are a nothing in life as you are here. You are not able to understand you just did what you claim to not do while on the internet. I would say it to your face anytime your typical reply does no good here little one. Now you run along back into that irrelevant time you call a life. Leave the real arguing to successful winners not people unable to even admit or recognize what they are doing.

  • @kimmie5026 You can not argue like all uneducated fools with no facts. You are a typical loser who knows nothing. Let's "bring it home" you are a failure in life and always will be.. Good day!

  • @heynow123ism Do I suppose to care about any thing you just said ? Because I dont. Lol. I think its cute how dumb you sound. Lol. Merry Christmas !

  • @kimmie5026 Who is the one that said that is all rap music is about by the way? You able to even notice how YOU made that assumption? He said rappers should hear this... You placed the meaning on his words. So if you are able to make that leap how can you not make the other leap that, that is what top selling rap is about over the past decade and a half.

  • @kimmie5026 Do you see the words "all rap" anywhere in my comment? Your comment is typical from someone who doesn't pay attention to detail If you read my comment you'd know the whole point I was making is that good music can be made without using cuss words.. Just to be clear on this...Are you saying Mr Cash's music isn't good because there's no cuss words? Or do you think rap music can't be good unless it includes cuss words? I'm only asking because I wouldn't want to "assume".

  • @MrJohn nope I dont see "all rap" I see "rap singers" so youre the one that doesnt pay attention to detail..if you did you would have done a better job at trying to make a statement. You are the one that generalized it when YOU said " rap singers"..get real..you just made a dumb statement and everyone including myself pointed it out..get over it sweetheart.lol

  • @MrJohnisthename I guess you dont know much about Mr. Cash. This man was one of the most well known fowl mouth, drugged up,alcoholic`s during this time. He made a song about snorting cocaine and killing his wife..not only does rap get out out of line with lyrics, so does rock, indie, whatever..it depends on the artist. So next time youre trying to get thumbs up on youtube..make it a worthy and valid comment& people wont question you. lol..Good day !

  • @kimmie5026 thanks for the biography on Mr Cash. Although it is very interesting, it has nothing to do with my original comment. Now how's about that thumbs up? lol ...................................... ҉ =^.^= ҉.. just kiddin'

  • @MrJohnisthename you mean like how your comment about "Rap singers" had nothing to do with Johnny Cash,Joaquin Phoenix or this movie ???...hahahahhahah I like you !Youre funny. smh

  • what is the name of the first song that they play

  • @Keith293 I was there when it happened :)

  • My guess is the two dislikes come from Jimmy Davis and God XD

  • I agree Joaquin Phoenix should've got the oscar. He played an excellent role of being an addict husband father singer musician ......all of it.

  • The real Johnny Cash was a prankster. Him and his band once painted a whole hotel room black then sawed the legs off all the chairs and balanced them up. Of course they later went back and paid for all the damages.

  • This movie rules!!!!!

  • EPIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg I loove this song!!

  • Hey folks, wanna laugh? Turn on the "make subtitles" feature. Among other things, they put this: "how on israel in ireland under salad" LOL

  • Johnny takes over at "to San Antone."

  • thumbs up is you noticed they skipped 5:02 in the end!

  • this scene gets so freaking intense...

  • Did he won a oscar for that?

  • luther perkins was awesome

  • That agent was right, it was gut-wrenching listening to JP trying to sing gospel.

  • Joaquin Phoenix is the only guy I can think of that could play Johnny Cash in this movie.

  • @maggottron333 I heard once in an interview or something that when Joaquin started singing lessons or what ever for the movie, something strange happened, they said it was something like the Spirit of Johnny Himself coming in and taking over.

  • @Videogeek95 That's so cool. It's probably true. Joaguin's brother died, he's got that vibe. It's possible.

  • @maggottron333 his brother was river phoenix you know that? like 10 years before he made this?

  • @monkadelic13 I just said that. Johnny Cash's brother died, Joaquin's brother died.

  • @maggottron333 yeah man i was drunk last night and misread that post my bad lol

  • @monkadelic13 Haha, no worries, man.

  • @Videogeek95 this is true in the interview thats how get got that bass voice; and he still cant replicate it do this date if he tried;

  • @Videogeek95 I saw that too. I thought it was really inspirational, because I love Joaquin Phoenix and Johnny Cash, and it sounds pretty legit.

  • @Videogeek95 I would Believe it for 200%

No man could play Johnny better than Joaquin Phoenix

  • " But those people keep a movin, and that's what tortures mean."

  • @Jxrred Huh, ok.

  • When he turned to the guy on electric, his face was like "If you screw this up, your gonna be the guy I shoot in Reno."

Im guessing God was the person tat didn't like this video.

  • a fantastic version.

    Cash would have been proud.

  • "For goodness sakes, John! What's with all the black? Yu look like your going to a funeral!"

    "Maybe I am."

  • If there were more record producers like this guy now...half the shit on the radio nowadays wouldn't exist...

  • @modgoviya99 None of the shit on the radio would exist.

  • @modgoviya99 Amen.:)
