in sitting meditation is it ok instead legs being cross since it is very uncomfortable for me is it ok to in similar position sit with feet together like praying hands. aka butterfly position for stretching before workouts?
I just got into meditation and it has helped to calm my mind of worry and distress. I know it takes a while to fully feel the benefits of it but when will I feel the freedom?
Hey Yuttadhammo. Got any advice on how to unlock memories from past lifetimes? I have a couple of feelings about my previous lifetimes and what they might have been, but no actual memories.
@WolfySnackrib666 i know exactly how you feel i dont know nor can i explain my "memories" but they seem too real so i would like to know what they translate too, people say i have an overactive imagination, howevr even in dreams you never create faces, and dreams are full of imagination, but the faces i have in these "memories" i have never seen. so that is out ..... i would like to discuss this more so please repliy if you get this
@beowolf0663 Overactive imagination? As long as you're not gonna claim that you're Cleopatra or something fancy like that, I might be inclined to believe you. I've encountered like three Cleopatras...
The one fragment that I have that might indicate something out of a past lifetime is almost too fancy for me to buy into myself. See there's something about Bushido, and many of those who were masters of Bushido were Samurais. Was I a Samurai once? Not impossible, who knows.

Isn't your "hope" that this video leads people to peace, happiness and freedom at odds with your goal of not being attached to wants, desires and attachments?
hi yuttadhammo , is meditation a state of mind where the mind dessolve ? where you feel that nothingness ? i feel that when i meditate i feel kind of worse and cant let go of thoughts and feelings, why is this ? should i keep meditating ? am i doing something wrong? i cant really seem to get a whoel lot calmer , can u help me out with an anser ? i thank u very much .
I feel quite calm and contented sometimes when I relax, focus on breathing and 'empty' my mind....but it doesn't stop me feeling deep anger or occassionaly even hatred when I'm not in that state. I wonder how many months and years I must practice this mind control before I reap the benefits of a permanent change.
Incidentally, what makes Buddhists think they are reincarnated? Clearly newborns have to learn everything from scratch. They're evidently not reincarnations of 'experienced' souls.
Many thanks for this series of videos and indeed all the others. I am so glad that I came across the teachings of the Buddha. The 4 Noble Truths and the 8 Fold Path (of which meditation is just a part) truly do lead to freedom from suffering, I wish everyone would study them. I speak as a 'normal', middle aged, middle Englander.
Thanks for this wonderful series of videos, I just watched them all and the message is very inspiring and hope-giving, and a good reminder to myself to keep up my meditation practise.
Yuttadhammo i was wondering if you have heard of a path called Vajra Nirvana? And what is the buddhist standpoint on kundalini? I have stumbled across a spiritual path which claims to be able to use this "kundalini" energy in my body to take me to realization. Weird phenomenon happen within my perception, with my chakras, much bliss. Anyways up until now i had been mostly familiar with buddhist teachings, and was wondering where this fits in to buddhism.
through meditation I learn to be more patience. The mind is cooler and calm. Sometime it feel light. But I still need more practice to better myself and others. Thanks for Dharma talk on meditation!
meditation has brought me the inner strengh to not get caught up in any external dramas.....and it allows me to be me in a free and spontanous way....i love meditation , and as a busy parent of 3 I'm aware meditation allows me to be the surfer on lifes waves..... namaste
