  • another thing i found that was effective for the "silver metal" is take a piece of paper crumple it up and spray sum silver spray paint on it and lightly scrape it on the same places you added the silver with the paintbrush! great look! awesome vid too!

  • i was looking at this and i saw GAME TAVERN and i relissed ADAM GRUMBO!!

    u LEDG

  • LMFAO the beginning of the video says "Do NOT try this at home...This in NOT a tutorial"

  • Whats the name of the black paint you use that you wipe off?

  • @ABrotherOfThor i think in the vid he used automobile primer, but you probly already have it.

  • Did you use a mold to make the armor or pepakura?

  • I can't see what kind of paint you use for the finishing touches with paint brush. What kind of rustoleum is it?

Awesome tutorial btw I just started painting my suit and it will look so much better now that I've seen this.

  • what colour should i look for for the chief green

  • @MrToystory2000 Oregano paint colour, use black detail, and silver weathering

  • thanks for the help on the tutorial ! i am using this technique to paint my armor and it turns out very impressive! thanks for sharing!

  • Did you bondo the outside??

  • i dont even play games or know who the halo guy is. but i liked the tut. nice paint job bro.

  • Master Chief Costume - Custom Painting Tutorial

    "This is NOT a tutorial!"

  • Just a personal observation, but I think ya overdid it just a little with the silver. AMAZING technique especially for how simple it is, but just a little too much

  • This is very helpful. Thank you.

  • would this work on helmets??

  • This is exactly how you would paint a plastic or metal miniature but simply scaled up. I don't know why I didn't think of that... Great Vid!

  • Finally, I am tired of watching people who know how to make the armor, then ruin it mby doing a shitty paint job over it. THANK YOU FOR DOING IT RIGHT!

  • so ive made my suit and have attempted the black spray whipe method many times however it always whipes the under coat right off with it.. i dont understand what im doing wrong??any tips

  • @wwelsh207 You can either leave the undercoat to fully cure for several days at least, wipe the top layer of paint off quickly; stopping the solvent from sinking into the undercoat and lifting it, or try and find a laquer or silk varnish to cover your undercoat and give it a tad more protection...

  • @spaceforbeginners do you think a clear coat would protect it like a varnish or laquer? maybe my paint im using is too cheap? lol how long did you wait to cure?

  • I painted my wireless headset because of you. lol

    (I have a helmet, but that's next)

  • thanks man i need one of toturial ^ ^

  • why go through all this work just go buy it from a store

  • excellent. it doesnt look too terribly hard to replicate the process. and if u screw up, paint it again. lol. i think this method is infinitely better then the oll "paint it silver, then paint it black, then scratch it up." while that method is suficient, it makes all the damage look like it came from a soldier tripping and falling down in gravel. lol, this looks more like regular wear and tear weathering.

  • What do you recommend for spray paint?

  • @mvang01 Oregano paint colour

  • Awesome

  • which for colors you have with paint use exact colors would be awsome;)

  • @Nightling99 Oregano paint colour, then black for detail, silver weathering

  • Thank you for the upload! Very nice work on the chest plate!

  • hey dude, one question, when you make it out of card stock, resin and fiberglass, will it be sturdy of flibsy?IF it is flibsy can i just add more layers of fiberglass and card stock? Please help.

  • @daftmastercheifpunk If done with the fiberglass resin method it should be hard as rock. Then you can add more to it if it's not thick enough or hard enough. Thats what I did and mine is great.

  • Just plain beautiful!

  • ...What is this? a silent movie? It would of been alot better if you actually explained what you did. Im a first time armor builder and every little bit of info is useful to me. but still a very informative video..minus the much needed narration...

  • can u name all the bottles u use? i couldnt quite see them all

  • nice job on applying all the paint

  • How well can you move in it. Is it hot or does it pinch if you bend? It looks great. Email me I'd like to talk to you about it and get more details.

  • i love the music. i know it only from halo 2...

  • great video and work>>>

  • Sorry me and 15 friends missed to like button

  • wow you did an amazing job thank you this helped me so much

  • So, I'm a lazy ass with papercraft. I don't have the patience to fold and mold the armor myself but I have no problem paying someone to do it for me or if they have a kit already put together that is for sale. Doesn't have to be painted just bondoed and finished with fiberglass. How would I contact someone about purchasing the armor from them?

  • wow, I guess you can save the world yourself now.

  • u have an exlant eye 4 details & what r all dcoulors u used ?

  • hey can u make me a master cheif suit and i buy off of u lol u r really good the begining it looked not like his armmor then t the ending it dose

  • after each layer of spray paint you should you let it dry?

  • Awesome job on the armor AND painting! WOW!

Just a question. How would it look if you did the dry brushing BEFORE the primer staining? Would that help make the dry brushing look more worn in?

Anyway, not complaining at all. LOL It looks great!!

I'm working on Halo Marine armor and may try the dry brushing before the staining to see what I get.

    Thanks for the tutorial. :)

  • HarooOOGaaH!

  • wow that could easily be a prop in the actual movie

  • sorry i meant you did a better job than Bungie on the paint ! damn your such an artist, your armor looks even better than the original MJOLNIR armor costume made by Bungie so in other words, your armor should worth more than their own creation !!!! LOL at bungie they got owned O_O

  • damn you did it even better than the original armor !!! O___O

  • i owe you big time!probably on of the best tutorials out there!

seriously i love you man.you just saved me a lot of trouble!

  • @techstepman Ha, thanks man!

  • @gametavern If you can make me one i will pay you 55 dollars

  • @Poketrader3270 lol, trust me. you'll have to pay a whole lot more. something around 250 dollars comes closer. this takes months, even years to make. and the money it costs to make. *shivers*

  • One word... EXTRASPECTCAKULARANDTOTALLYAWESOME!!!!

  • Is that Pepakura? If it is, were did you download it and what was it called? I want to download mine from wiki halo costuming file index, but the one that is super detailed like yours has these supports in it. I'm not sure if I can make the rest and forget the supports or what. Where did you download that man?

  • what song is this?

  • Wow. This is actually the best looking Halo 3 armor Ive seen so far. Especially home made. Ive see ones that arent home made that look 50 time worse then yours. Not saying yours is bad at al I just didnt know how to phrase that last sentence. Your armor is aweosme.

  • what colour of green did you use? and what was the black you used and smudged or was it normal black spray paint?

  • hi man. i have a dude. when you make de silver rust, what type of spray did you use!

  • u havea dude?

  • Did you use a matt black for the low lights? im going to be painting my helmet real soon and i have a couple of names for the paints - i know i need Italian olive matt for the main colour and a chrome shiny for the battle damage but i need a black

  • Awesome man - Is that how you paint the AR as well?

  • Couple of questions:

What kind of primer did you use?

Is this particular chest piece the same kind you used in the other videos (ie: is it the same Rustoleum Oregano paint color)?'

    Thanks.

  • most realistic armor i've seen so far

  • nice weathering and panel lining!

  • makes it look like its real metallic like... niee job

  • Do you make these for people xD?

  • dude dont use pepakura unless you are very very good at folding paper already.. it is hard as crap. buut thats just from my experience from trying to make a halo2 odst helmet. also where and how do you size in pepakura viewer 3

  • You go to 2d menu and go to change scale. Then you go to scale factor Click on it. And change the size...

  • i wish i had a printer =[

  • That looks real nice, Good Job :)

  • very nice im going to try and do an smg soon

  • I wonder if you could use this in paintball...

  • you probably could but afterwards your armor would be totally trashed after your awesome paintjob

  • Why is it that in the beggining disclaimer notice warning whatever, that you say this vid is not a tutorial blah blah blah, but it say tutorial in the title? A bit contradictory, don't you think?

  • this armour is great, good job

how much would it cost to build the same armour for me?? :D:D:D:D

  • yeah srsly that would be cool but with a red and black color sceme. I would definately buy it.

  • If he was to build one for you, I don't think it would be worth it. I would personally buy the factory made ones from eBay for around 700 bucks. This guy would obviously charge more due to the amount of labor used.
