I love the line about all the different ethnic groups and political types that just casually coexist in NY, it's really one of the most beautiful things about the city and it's suburbs. The big rough utopia that doesn't even think twice about it. Every time I read about something tragic and dark like Yugoslavia or Rwanda.....New York is the thing that saves me from despair.

@Swissbanker77 If you are planning on visiting NYC, you're much better off staying @ the Westin Hotel in Jersey City. Nice rooms, 1/3 the price of a similar hotel in the city, and the PATH tube station is directly across the street from the hotel entrance. PATH can get you into the city in under 20 minutes and cost only $2 one way. Save your money on the hotel and you'll have more to spend on shopping and attractions in Manhattan. See, Jersey can be good to you.

@5oulPower I hope you get this message, this is as only a favour, unsure if you've heard U2 prior to Zooropa (a good album), but do check out Boy, War, Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, and of course Achtung Baby (I consider their best in it's newness compared to what preceded). Always been an uplifting band for me.

@joelhitchcock actually I already own all of U2's albums. EVERY ONE OF THEM. Except their Passengers experimental album which is bloody rare... But then again Passengers isnt technically a "U2" album, is it? XP And I love all their albums. Every one of them. But thankss anyway. :-)

@5oulPower: "Passengers" technically IS a U2 album as it is them playing together on all the songs. Pavarotti sings on the classic "Miss Sarajevo" and is majestic. All in all, the album is alright....not comparable to any U2 albums in terms of vintage U2 songcraftsmanship. Having said that, it does have its moments, and Miss Sarajevo is a all time U2 hit so in that regard, should be in any crazed U2 fan's collection!

For me it's the last great U2 song written and in my U2 top 5 of all time. everything about this song is intensely beautiful: the delay, the climactic riff that hits you in the face, the sound of it, the laidback beat underneath. and of course the solo.

End of September 2001, I got tickets to the David Letterman show because people werent going there after 9/11. Their was an unannounced special guest that night that turned out to be U2. They played this song and it had incredible healing power. Well, I bought October when it came out and lost interest in them after Unforgettable fire. After this night they found a new place in my heart. They played through "One" and had to do it again because the sound wasnt right for TV, Awesome
