Kikyo would've been a good couple with inuyasha if naraku never got involved. When kikyo was ressurected, she still wouldn't forgive inuyasha throughout the entire series, and tries to hurt/kill kagome, and kagome saves her from death 2 times and she did not thank her. That is some of the reasons why kagome is better off with inuyasha regaurdless of her coming 500 years in the future.
