@Axen901 It's not an alternate reality. X6, X7, X8, and Command Mission take place between X5 and Zero 1, with CM occurring a few decades after X8 and Zero's ending from X6 taking place after CM.

It can be a little brain-hurting, but everything does fit into place if you give some pieces a wiggle.

@darktochiro No, the Zero saga starts a century after the end of the Maverick Wars, which is nebulous. Zero's ending in X6 is set after X7, X8, Command Mission, and the end of the Maverick Wars.

It's like how "Destroy All Monsters!" was supposed to be the end of the Godzilla series, but they made more movies. DAM being set in 1999 allowed it to remain the finale of the Showa series, with "Godzilla's Revenge" to "Terror of Mechagodzilla" happening before it.
