I hated adding meta tags. Blogger makes that task difficult and I couldnt use the title piece. It was a mess to learn about if I knew more I could have done it easier so it will be a good idea to learn some html or hire a page designer.

I'm positive Google Adsense looks at meta tags. I use Blogger and when I tweak the meta tags my CTR goes up.

The title and description are still very important.  The KEYWORD tag is one that has lost value.

That's fine. Sometimes editors (Dreamweaver for example) add the extra slash. I don't think that's a problem.
