I've seen 20watt led, but I'm not sure about the lumens.. of course this led isn't exacly as we say one chip led, but with multiple leds of this type and good heatsink&lenses you can create a headlight for your car :P (it's a bit more complicated but you could do that)
it is brighter and more efficient than incandescents and pretty similar to Flourescents. However, it seems that some of the energy is wasted a lot on heat.
We have this on Ebay. Currently listed as auction 250306104673. If the auction number gets moved, do a search for seller: MACMEDIA

would you please tell me where you got this and how much? I'd love to make a set for fog lights on my car.

I heard of a new car utilizing LED lamps as headlights - Big money for this but it was a high end card.
This is a one chip LED (1 single block with 2 leads on it)

Yes, all LEDs have heat generation - though compared to fluorescents and incandescents (lumen output), it is considerably less.
LED's have a very long life - up to 50,000 hours as long as it is cooled appropriately. You need to have a good heatsink and/or fan.
