These 3800 series engines are nothing until you reprogram the transmissions down shift points.. most these cars if you race them at 40 mph.. you will lose.. Race from a stop that mustang would win.. Or race one at around 50 or so the 3800 will lose again.
Ford sucks ass in speed. I have seen guys that drive Fox body Mustang with a 5.0L V8 claim that their car is an 11sec car being all stock till they take it down the track and its an 15sec car instead what a JOKE. GTP all the way!

Fact is that a GTP is a good match for Mustang. My very lightly modded GTP went 13.6, very much like a lightly modded Fox body Mustang would do but it all depends on which mods and such along with how well someone drives a car at the track which isn't like the street. It was a nice race. I notice the GTP sometimes the supercharger kicks in slow. Like it's trying to haul ass. But it gets better closer to the end what i see. Sweet a stock auto S197. So we have a 97 mph car getting beat by a modded, pullied, 99 mph GTP. lol. My stone stock '92 Mustang convertible with only pulleys and exhaust kept up with a friend's intake/exhaust '08 GT. You guys should find some faster cars.

I was into my old '82 Mustang coupe for $1800 including the cost of car itself and it went 12.90s @ 107 mph on motor, on street tires.

@daveyamudda A 3v GT will never be a high 12 car without power adders. I knew 2 guys here in my town with the most modded n/a 3v S197s i've ever seen. Intake manifolds, cold air kits, headers, full o/r exhaust, cams, ignition mods, pulleys, both 5 spd cars, gears, tuned with laptops- fuel and timing curves, injector timing and duty cycle, camshaft timing, a/f ratio all tuned in 100 rpm incriments through the entire powerband, and more. Neither of them could pull my old '82 coupe.
@daveyamudda I guess I should restate: A 3V GT can be a high 12 car just barely with every bolt on you can get and immaculate tunes. A Stock 2007 GT 5 spd with a couple bolt ons and DRs is not anywhere near a 12 second car. I am out at the local drag strip at least 30 times per year for the last several years, i've seen it all.
@gtdrummerdude It depends on where your live. If the dragstrip you go to is well above sea level then yea, your not going to see any 12 sec bolt on 3v GTs. How ever saying that no bolt-on 3v can be a 12 sec car is just not true.
@pjbadgersuw26 You're still hard pressed to get a S197 GT into the 12s. With weight reduction, full aftermarket suspension setup, 4.10 gears, intake, headers, full exhaust, tune, probably TB and MAF also, slicks, and some serious driving at a cold, sea level track yes you will probably hit 12s but that's far from a stock car, and maybe not even a daily driver anymore. If your only mods were engine mods it would take the full h/c/i treatment to hit 12s.

There are plenty of other mustangs on there that are hitting mid to high 12s with nothing but bolt ons and tunes at full weight which I would consider daily drivers.

@pjbadgersuw26 Aside from editing, in a video I don't know the conditions of the race (temp, baro, wind direction, elevation) and I can't go look at the car and see what mods it ACTUALLY has or doesn't have. I don't care how fast a car can potentially go in awesome conditions, I care how fast it goes where I live so I can compare it to my car which I race, again, where I live. I live in Phx, AZ. Elevation 1470 ft, baro averages ~29.85. Summer DA ~5000 ft, winter DA ~2500 ft.
5000 ft DA = Lightnings, SRT4s, 350Zs etc going 15s @ low 90s mph. I've even seen nice clean SRT8 vehicles going low 14s @ 99 mph over and over. -2000 ft DA in new england area is worth around 7 mph over the summer traps down here, hence a stock 3V that goes 98 mph here would probably go 105 mph up there.

The same night there was a loud modded comp G running High 14s @ 95 mph, and the last bone stock GTP I saw here had a CAI and was running 15.1 @ 93.

@NFSINSANE With forced induction cars, a lot of times its better to have an automatic trans because they're more consistant as far as shifting goes (less pounds of boost lost between shifts)
That's good ole GM thinking for you. You should see the shit downpipe they gave the car. This car could have easily and cheaply made 300HP off the car lot, but GM did it's usual half ass work.
The S197 Stang GT with the shaker 500 stereo is listed at 3,510 LBS and listed at 3,575 LBS with the shaker 1000 stereo. I forgot to add that in my first comment.
I own a ssei.. the I'll still take the mustang. 3800s had the worst sensors and electronics compared to anything. One sensors goes bad.. cars dead. Fix it... oh what do ya know another went bad. Oh and don't forget the awful intake manifold and head gaskets that break when the car is still new.
you most likely never will.. * i had a gtp about 2 years ago* ... when i looked into it.. the only available suitable match to the gtp with minor modifications (in comparison to any other swap) is the 6spd manual transmission out of the G6 GTP.... it's probably i wanna say 4-6k$ to have it done.. but it'd be one of like 2 or 3 with the 6spd manual... the gtp grand prixs are definitely a car that should have been made in a stick shift form...

@ken060693 its a heavy ass four door sedan and makes 240hp and 280tq. idk what the hell a new nose is but if your talking about an overdrive pulley it needs supporting mods to handle the more boost. and its a v6 which is easily maxed out on stock internals before the v8 is
@ken060693 I think I know what your talking about. I saw the nose drive on PFYC and it said 25-30 hp increase but read the sentence carefully. "With the pre-installed 3.4 pulley, approximate maximum boost is raised to 11.5 psi and approximate horsepower gains are 25-30 HP" The HP doesnt come from the Magnuson nose drive. It comes from the 3.4" Pulley pre-installed which adds the HP.
Thats the old school Magnuson keyed snout. Your better off getting a ZZP/W-body store MPS system then that thing. Way cheper and can you swap pulleys in minutes.
My advice to any GTP'ers is scan first for Knock before you drop pulleys.
@zo0yoRk69 not really. $50 worth of mods (new SC pulley and belt) will bring the gtp up to 270hp and 310ft/lbs torque..and the gtp is lighter than the mustang gt.
LS104GTO. its just that pontiac grand prix is the best v8 front wheel drive out there. rear wheel drive knocks off about 100 hp when you go to accelerate.so a 400 hp gto is like a 300 hp gto. so the gxp grand prix would win in a straight away. the new 305 hp mustang. rear wheel so its like 2005 and the base grand prix would beat it. like ho mine use to be

I was running allky injection. I had 0 KR, but was running really rich. hence why my car bogged down. Killed my timming, thats why I didnt have much power.
I do kinda wanna sell it so I can get a G8, but Im not going to get much for and it would just be not worth it after all the money and time I've put into. Rather keep it.

I own a ssei.. the I'll still take the mustang. 3800s had the worst sensors and electronics compared to anything. One sensors goes bad.. cars dead. Fix it... oh what do ya know another went bad. Oh and don't forget the awful intake manifold and head gaskets that break when the car is still new.

you most likely never will.. * i had a gtp about 2 years ago* ... when i looked into it.. the only available suitable match to the gtp with minor modifications (in comparison to any other swap) is the 6spd manual transmission out of the G6 GTP.... it's probably i wanna say 4-6k$ to have it done.. but it'd be one of like 2 or 3 with the 6spd manual... the gtp grand prixs are definitely a car that should have been made in a stick shift form...

can someone tell me this. i versed a stock 2006 camry se wit my stock 2000 grand prix gt. at launch i pulled ahead until like 70mph and at 85mph , the camry pulled ahead by about 1 car and a half. we raced to 110mph. PLZ TELL ME. IS A CAMRY SE FASTER THAN A GRAND PRIX GT, GTP, OR EVEN A GTX?!

I bought a stock gtp last summer and added headers, cai, 3.4" pulley, and tuned the computer it's now making 285 horses to the wheels. I spent about 1000 bucks for parts and installation. I love my car

@zo0yoRk69 they're both similar weight, but the mustang is 300 hp and 320 lb.-ft stock, and the gtp is 260 hp nd 285 lb.-ft stock. it wouldn't have to be modded out the ass for this. $200 for a new nose adds 30hp alone

@ken060693 I think I know what your talking about. I saw the nose drive on PFYC and it said 25-30 hp increase but read the sentence carefully. "With the pre-installed 3.4 pulley, approximate maximum boost is raised to 11.5 psi and approximate horsepower gains are 25-30 HP" The HP doesnt come from the Magnuson nose drive. It comes from the 3.4" Pulley pre-installed which adds the HP.

Thats the old school Magnuson keyed snout. Your better off getting a ZZP/W-body store MPS system then that thing. Way cheper and can you swap pulleys in minutes.
My advice to any GTP'ers is scan first for Knock before you drop pulleys.

@zo0yoRk69 not really. $50 worth of mods (new SC pulley and belt) will bring the gtp up to 270hp and 310ft/lbs torque..and the gtp is lighter than the mustang gt.

LS104GTO. its just that pontiac grand prix is the best v8 front wheel drive out there. rear wheel drive knocks off about 100 hp when you go to accelerate.so a 400 hp gto is like a 300 hp gto. so the gxp grand prix would win in a straight away. the new 305 hp mustang. rear wheel so its like 2005 and the base grand prix would beat it. like ho mine use to be

TOGs, 1.9 rockers, FWI, P&P Supercharger, 3.00" pulley, custom exhaust, allky injection bunch of other little stuff.
Now I have a intercooler, 42lb injectors, N* TB, 2.8" pulley

As far as engine mods go. I've probably spent about $1500. The headers and intercooler were the most exspensive everything else was cheap.
