@fahadalrefaei It was decent but not amazing, iirc. Though I don't remember the exact connection speed it was fast enough to stream most stuff, but it was slowed down when other people on the dorms were downloading like crazy (which was rare) and since a lot of the material we accessed was from overseas, it was a bit slow on some things. I was able to play MMOs with friends from home with only minor lag.
@Thatboycubie Yes, they did provide blankets and a small rice pillow. For me this was not enough at all, so I bought an extra mattress pad, and brought a fluffy blanky and 2 real pillows from America. My room was a single, the doubles are bigger, have no personal toilet, and have a connecting door to the next room that locks. I went with a program called ISEP so I received a monthly food stipend of 300$ ish, which I blew in the cafeteria that served SUPER YUMMY food for pretty cheap.
@akh183 All of the buildings were fairly newish when I went. We took showers in the communal private showering area on our floor. Just loaded up shampoo and fresh clothes in a basket and walked 20 feet to a small private room with a shower.
@akh183 I don't know if you got in or not, but I recommend APU for those wanting to learn Japanese language and culture, more then the degree program. The credit I earned there were valid at my home university, but I felt the classes were too easy.. except the fast paced Japanese class. And yes, the people were super nice!
Do you get blankets n pillows in the double dorm rooms? is your room a double dorm? and what are the differences? (apart from the obvious you have a single and that you share) what about food as far as food goes. you have to buy your own food? or can you pay for meal plans? Might go there on spring
is this the new / old building? is this a private room? so for the private room, do you take a shower inside your room or in a shared space? thank you!!
I'm looking to enroll for the September 2011 course in the management course. Would you recommend it? Is it hard to learn the Japanese? Like to keep up with the courses? (I currently take IB Diplomma Programme) Are the friends nice? Are the dorms good and clean (I'm quite a clean freak, hehe)
You are freekin awsome, I'v waited for some 1 to post videos on APU forever. I super appreciate what your doing, takeing the time to do this is greatly appreciated.
I was a one semester exchange student. I kinda regret not choosing to stay here longer though... However, the classes are far too easy compared to back home. I don't think you get the very best education here, but you get priceless international friends and networking, along with a lot of international eye openers.
This is the main dorms, the only other types are shared rooms which are a bit bigger but have no bathroom. There is a shared public bathroom instead. Also, I found out they do have girls only and boys only floors if you want them. For longer term students, they also have 'super hard study' floors, where everyone studies a shit ton, and you have mostly quiet neighbors. If you have any video requests, let me know. :)
Um... You are my hero xD thanks soo much for putting this up. I'm going there fall 2010, and was really curious about the dorms... so this answered my questions. Thanks :)
Thank you for posting this! I plan on going there next spring, and this is very helpful. One quick question, though. Is this the usual dorm that study abroad students get, or is this more for regular students?
Thank you so much! I just discovered this school and have been looking for more information about it from and student's point of view and now I found it! I look forward to your future vids!
