@CrazyDayDreamer69 I don't understand why people treat FL studio as if it's such a joke product. It's a sequencer like any other. It's not childish to use it and it isn't better or worse than reason, just different in what it does and its layout. Arty uses FL studio and get played on TATW and ASOT etc. regularly. Making great sounding music is all that matters in the end and there's no reason you can't use FL studio for that whether or not it's an entry level sequencer.
these tutorials are better than any ive seen before. most of them do stuff without even telling you what theyre doing and the sound at the end is always off! good job :)
love these videos been a long follower, i dont have reason but ive been translating this stuff into ableton 7 and fl studio 9 and using the thor with albino 3, if you have any experience with the other DAWs would you recommend reason much over them?
@zrenkert I've used FL Studio for about 6 months (not too long, I know), recently switched to Reason 5 (as in 3 days ago). Let's just say, FL Studio: been there, done that, never going back. Reason is less straight forward at first glance, but in the end, once you get used to it (which happens quickly if you're fairly familiar with FL studio), will be just as easy to use. Workflow not quite as good, but everything else, BETTER. My 10 cents, my 2 cents are free ;)
@mattfan14 SAME except i think i might still want to somewhat use FL studio cause u know i already got $200 invested in it lol, on that note, what program is this?is it free, if not how much?
@OpTicThErmal Going to re-visit that answer actually... Use what you are most comfortable with, as with everything else. It's the only way you'll get the best results :) I'm probably going back to FL studio as I'm more familiar with that. As for the price of Reason, no clue, I got it as a present :) I'd say maybe download it, try it, if you like it, buy it! I haven't been doing much music lately... but when I get the time, I'm probably gonna hop into FL studio again...
Ok so noobie question here, I'm brand new to reason but havent had any trouble following the tutorial thus far. I can't seem to put the notes in to match the timing in the tutorial Are they put in as 32nd notes? Quantised or not? etc. I'm just drawing them in using the pencil tool. No matter how I put them in I can't get the timing to match the tutorial's. Please help...

Chorus is a cheap way of cloning your oscillators... I have a good Trance Lead Supersaw like this but no artificial overtones phasing out my harmonics in weird ways.
Your stuff is really informative and great, especially when your almost completely new to reason. It so help full and I thank you so much for doing all of this!
So nice Dave, you have taught me so much! Thanks alot. Could you tell me what you think about my Drum And Bass song "Orbital Speedway"?? Thanks again.
sounds kind of like really old school, i don't know... would love to hear some kyau & albert, gareth emery, dash berlin type of more contemporary stuff... dunno if it is possible in reason though. that's what i want to know!!
mate. preaty much anything is possible in reason haha. i did a taster day at a local colledge in music tech. some guy created a near perfect version of eine kleine nacht music by mozart. (y)

do you recommend to do our melodies before or after the full settings?
faderklas 2 years ago
good point but i guess again its all to do with you own personal input
DjSTALKERgavint 2 years ago
I personally make an effect similar to what I'm going to end up using, then make the melody, then perfect the effect once the melody is recorded :)
As DjSTALKERgavint said though, it's down to you!
