I'm happy with my 03 M45 when do you really need it to go over 100?? Once in a great while.. M45 is a muscle car with brains and luxury. Not a AWD turbo 12k redline rally racing vehicle.
And no. top speed aint everything, especially for my 45 year old ass, but there are those days, you know? So the choice is still up in the air for me, M45, 2003/4 S8 so I can pretend I'm in Ronin. or a 2001+ 540i sport 6 speed/ M5... I'm thinking the Bavarian since the last one I owned was a '68 2002 and I don't care what anyone says...it was a well taken care of pile of shit in my book. The M45 after 90mph or so is like it's running into a K-Mart with Molasses walls. Opinions?

Okay, im finding a similiar trait among many Infiniti/Nissan models acceleration (CVT,auto, or even manual). They accelerate with impressive full potential from about 0-100, and then once you get into triple-digit speeds the car's acceleration gets very slow. It cant be the aerodynamics. For instance, this car is faster than my 530i by a full 2 sec 0-100mph, yet my 530i gets from 100-120 2 sec faster than this. Doesnt make sense. The Altima and Maxima have this similiar weird acceleration....
well the 5 speed auto in this m45 and other infiniti products have a very long fourth gear, i know that in my G35 third gear is over at about 110 and up into fourth and it will hold it there till about 145 and up into fifth. Same thing with my pathfinder fourth gear is very long. The new seven speed units in the infiniti cars are amazing. I drove a FX35 and it stayed in the power band up to 125. I didn't push it any quicker it was new and it wasn't mine. There is a method to the cvt though
Yeah very true... Mine is good until 80-90 then a corolla can hang with it after 100, My friend's Mazdaspeed 3 took me for a walk in the park at 125+ he was at least 145mph by then... do a search for mazdaspeed 3 0-155 it does it QUICK!
i have never driven a qx56 but i have sat in one there very nice, i drove an armada back in 2004 very quick in straight line i say quicker than the pathfinder those boats can move.
@4MATICbenz ur rite its the gear ratio's they put in these car's 4sp auto's the second gear is very fuckin tall and in the 5sp auto's fourth gear is very tall and in a 6sp fifth gear is also very tall and you stay out of ur power band longer meaning up top you lose power.

All anyone cares about is acceleration to double-digit speeds. In Germany, it's a different ball game. A car cannot sacrifice its top-end to gain a second in the 0-100kph dash if it's to be an effective autobahn cruiser. Newer Infinitis have stronger top-ends and more gears, which make them better all-arounders.
@jaymum23 , yeah that makes a lot of sense, actually. I understand these 5-speeds werent geared for the top end. The newer 7-speeds must help out a lot
@4MATICbenz You do make perfect 'sence', lol. Each engine has their own power curve. Many Nissan engines are known for having very good low-end and mid-range power while their top end power tends to level-out. Different things can affect it such as the compression ratio of the pistons to how aggressive the cam shape is. Honda is known for having very high end power to the top of the rev range but typically have pathetic low-end torque.
@4MATICbenz It's probably the tall gears from 3rd up, which helps with fuel economy. Keep in mind that they usually have a 4-5 speed transmissions and they have a pretty high top speed, so in those gears they'll accelerate slower. It goes for any car....

that is moving but ur car might of gotten up to 145mph if ur lucky it was starting to really slow down not the right type of dynamics to be going much faster its a family sedan... not enough hp to get much higher either not to mention wat they are governed at.(do not know wat that is) but it buggies. ive had my g8 gt up to 163mph but the governor has been wiped bye bye

my 4th gen 5spd max does the same thing. Hauls to 100 (3rd gear tops at about 102) and then it tapers off until you hit 140ish
