President Obama was the President when he took the Oath the first time. The only reason they did it a second time was to silence any kooks and screwballs like Alex Jones who would have made a whole brand new Kook Conspiracy Theory out of a verbal guffaw. Heck you would be nervous and likely mess up too if you knew that 1/2 of the entire Earth/planet was watching you at that specific moment! Anyone who reads any more into this honest verbal mistake is likely a rubber-room candidate.
The moon god was worshipped by praying toward Mecca several times a day, making an annual pilgrimage or hajj to the Kabah in mecca which was a center for the worship of pagan dieties. Running around the Kabah seven times, kissing a black stone were pagan rites practiced by the Arabs long before Muhammad was born, and are still being performed by Muslims world wide today.
Far be it from me to go against the word of WikiAnswers, but Allah is just the Arabic word for God, it has nothing to do with pagans. Most of the Koran comes from the bible, including the Ten Commandments. The first building at the site of the Kaaba was built by Abraham. There are far more pagan influences in Catholicism than Islam - and I'm Catholic!
All of this is irrelevant because the first amendment of the US constitution says the United States shall have no state religion.
Another important distinction is that throughout the Quran, the teachings are to destroy all others outside of Islam in the name of Allah. In comparison, the Christian God is a god of love. Jesus tells us in Luke 6:27-28: "But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you and pray for them which despitefully use you."
In addition, the Muslims despise Jews, but the Christian Bible says that the Jews are the apple of God's eye and that whoever blesses her will be blessed and whoever curses her will be cursed. (Genesis 12:2-3) These are fundamental distinctions! The Muslim god and the Christian God are not the same.
The Bible has some violent bits, Sodom and Gomorrah springs to mind - so much for love your enemies.
You know a lot of Christians over the years have been anti-Semitic and war like, that doesnt mean they dont believe in the God of Abraham.
The Koran, the Bible and the Torah all have the same roots. Jews, Christians and Muslims all believe in the same God. I'm sorry if you don't like that, but it's true.
From WikiAnswers: There are others however that would argue than no Allah is not the same God worshipped by Abraham, and Moses. There is archeological evidence that suggests that Islam is a modern version of anancient fertility moon god. "Allah" May come from All-li-lah a cheif pagan god, that was know to the people of the Arabian pennisula. This may explain the crecent as the symbol of Islam.
Obama was sworn in the second time without the Christian Bible. It's not a requirement that he use the Christian Bible, but it is a symbolic representation of respect and appreciation for the Christian Principals on which America was founded. He made his comments in the past about America no longer being a Christian nation. Is this his way of disrespecting those Christian Principals? It's odd to say the least.
If Obama gets too carried away with his presidency, he can be blocked 2 years from now and be made a lame duck. If you live in UK, then why are you so concerned about whether or not Americans are Christian? Atheist will stop at nothing until everybody believes in nothing, but that's just wishful thinking. Atheistism must be a dreadfully dark place for one's soul since atheist tend to spew out such hateful remarks towards those of us who believe in Christ. They are empty inside and it shows.
Obama might not consider America a Christian nation nor you, but over 80% of America's population are Christian. We have "In God We Trust" on our money and "Under God" in our Pledge of Allegiance. There are Christian symbols all over our government buildings including the Ten Commandments. I'm sure our founding fathers wanted this nation to be fair for all, but the 20% who are athiest etc. want it to be there way or nothing. The majority wins elections and will keep America a Christian nation.
I'm not American and I'm not an atheist, I'm just pointing out facts and I should point out that God and Ten Commandments are not just part of the Christian faith. Jews, Muslims and Christians all believe in the God of Abraham and have the Ten Commandments as the foundation principles of their law.
There is no constitutional requirement for a bible. Theodore Roosevelt didn't use a Bible when he first took the oath, John Quincy Adams swore on a book of law. John F. Kennedy had a bible beside him but did not place his hand on it. Lyndon B. Johnson was swore the oath on a Roman Catholic missal.

The US was founded on secular principles. God doesn't appear in the Constitution of the United States.
