I bought this soundtrack in one of those "10 cassettes for a penny" deals back in the day, and I must say--the music is really great. I loved Cynthia Rhodes' performance of "Finding Out the Hard Way". The movie may not have been a worthy sequel to Saturday Night Fever, but the soundtrack is very underrated.
Cynthia Rhodes unfortunaely didn't carry that cheerful expression seen here when performing FINDING OUT THE HARD WAY. I think that's because Jackie Cole(Rhodes) was very upset with Tony Manero(John Travolta) He showed up during the performance with the intent to apologize to Jackie, thus downgrading their romance to simple friendship.
This band backing up Cindy and Frank must thave worked with Michael McDonald,Kenny Loggins,George Benson and Al Jarreau. WAKING UP sounds like something any of those guys could have recorded. Well, there were songs recorded in the late 70's and early 80's that sounded like that. Quincy Jones could have produced something like that.
After marrying singer-musician Richard Marx,Cynthia Rhodes retired from show business for the ordinary life. The couple live in Lake Bluff,Illinois with their two or three kids. Rhodes' fans will always remember her for her roles in the films STAYING ALIVE,FLASHDANCE,DIRTY DANCING and RUNAWAY. The couple married January 8,1989 when Marx was a big-selling superstar. I didn't know about the Rhodes-Marx marriage until a read the article about them in 1997 when DD turned 10.
Richie Sambora @ :56 on the left. wow. Everyone was in this movie. The dad from That 70's show is the choreographer in the beggining of the movie, Finola hughes is Anna on GH. Cynthia is married to Richard Marx, Frank Stallone being in the band... LOL
Right around the time Richie Sambora's band Bon Jovi had formed. The band debuted commercially in 1984 with RUNAWAY from the self-titled debut. Their first multi-million seller was 1986's SLIPPERY WHEN WET followed by 1988's NEW JERSEY(Sambora is a New Jersey native like I am). Frank Stallone recorded music for his brother Sylvester's ROCKY movies. FS guest-starred on an episode of CBS's MY BIG FAT GREEK LIFE(the 7-episode series ran in early 2003).
"You spoke so soft and tenderly" - "You are my soul from underneath" - "living it up you're all I need, living it now can't you see, living it up you're all I need, takin' it all for free" ~~~~~~~~~Great lines~~~~~~~~~~~
I Love this song so much Thank You for uploading this awesome song Frank Stallone is so talented & is such an amazing singer I Love his voice in this song Waking Up is my favourite song but its not in the Staying alive soundtrack which is a shame this amazing Track is so underrated Waking Up is such a Cool song and so very 80's and I Love these kind of songs I still hear this song now and I Love it the 80's were so cool its my favourite era
This Staying Alive cd is going for a lot of money on Amazon.! Would you believe it! Good music always comes through.:) Frank Stallone..underrated. Good songwriter and singer. Maybe they didn't take him seriously because of who his brother was.

Cynthia Rhodes is far more talented than that Finola Hughes chick. She can dance better, she can sing AND she is an amazing gymnast!
