What is the prerequisite asking for ESX host allowing Volume copies to be recognized? How do I verify if i meet this requirement?

This procedure seems to automatically copy data from old subsystem LUN to the Storwize. When you finalize, What happens to the LUN on the old subsystem? Is it still usable? What if I want to keep the Data on the old LUN for a while, much like on the SVC, and proceed to the migration at a later time?
