  • genius,

  • How have I never heard this before?

  • @thestickmann1 Thats what I thought when I first heard it a few years ago. Then I realised that now I have thats all that matters.

  • Sons of Admirals?

    i checked them. gay.

    im here because of scrubssssss

  • @karpfenaut their are so not gay!!!

  • @IlovedogsEMS they are... and I'm a fan of them.

  • @BryonyyGoesRAWR idk about others but Charlie and Alex are not gay! If you watch Charlies videos you would know.....

  • @IlovedogsEMS I never said they WHERE gay themselves! Gosh. And Tom is bi.

  • @BryonyyGoesRAWR there is nothing gay about them!

  • @IlovedogsEMS oh shuddup. :'3

  • @BryonyyGoesRAWR i won't *makes trollface*

  • @IlovedogsEMS you will :33

  • @BryonyyGoesRAWR i won't xD it's fun

  • I like both versions.

  • Respect!

  • If you're here because of Sons of Admirals, I feel sorry for you. You have no idea what kind of music you've been missing.

  • @CoolSitter You know that Cat Stevens is British, right?

  • Released in Italian by The Rokes, British band playing in Italy (1963/1970)

    Titled: Eccola di nuovo.

  • one word...RUSHMORE

  • Like if you know that you would never be here without Sons of Admirals

  • To all the Cat Stevens fans who hate on SOA: Don't hate on them, they did a really good job covering this, and they're actually very talented.

And to all the SOA fans hating on Cat Stevens: No, cat did not steal this.. are you retarded? -_-

  • @nennypsycho

    Couldnt have said it better.

  • It sounds so much better when true brits sing it.

  • Thumbs up if you came her because of or know about the movie Rushmore.

  • Alex Day ,Charlie and the other Sons of admirals do this better

  • I thought everyone knew this song. No offense to anyone, I really thought it was just one of those staple songs everyone knew.

  • Can't stop staring at the diamond...

  • @jasdf rofl. its awesome..

  • i,personally, prefer the sons of admirals cover but yeah thats just me

  • Okay guys, Sons of Admirals AND Cat Stevens are both fantastic, can we quit bashing another? Grow up.

  • I'm not a big Cat Stevens fan but this version is by far the best. I can barely listen to the Sons of Admirals version as it is such a pale imitation. The Tremeloes version is even worse.

  • I just love all the wonderful photos! Never seen a lot of them.... Here comes my baby...never to be mine...no matter how hard I try....Thanks Katydid! <3 :) Later!

  • @DoreenC79 Thanks. Since he wrote this as a teen and before his bout with TB and beard, I wanted to use pics of him at that age.

  • I'm mildly ashamed that I didn't know the original of this until I found it through the Sons of Admirals cover. I loved how cute and catchy it was and then I found out it was Cat Stevens' song and was like "Oh, that's why." XD He's amazing.

  • @paddyward1994 Fuck you.... Enough said.

  • all the covers of this sucks ¬¬

  • Thumbs up if you are watching this.... now!

  • the original is better

  • Don't forget "Yo la Tengo" version

  • Thumbs up if this song reminds you of Rushmore.

  • Nice

  • This song is so nice! :D

  • Another version? i have like 4 versions of the same song now...

  • ♥ I like both version by SOA and Cat Stevens.

Artists are artists. they're both perfect to me <3

  • Fuck Sons of Admirals.

  • great cover of The Tremeloes classic. ;-)

  • @lkijju The Tremeloes did the cover

  • Oh those eyes.

  • I've never heard of Sons of Admirals but I know Cat Stevens. Anyone who knows anything about music knows about Cat Stevens.

  • SCRUBS!

  • hahathey played this on scrubs :D

  • Rushmore!

  • Well then it's good because they introduced lots of people to Cat Stevens

  • I'm here because I love Cat Stevens. NOT trashing Sons of Admirals, I'm sure they're good too.

But I just love Cat's voice during the song!

  • I don't remember being this arrogant when I was younger, I probably was, but I was NEVER disrespectful of who wrote the original or should I say who was inspired to create such great sounds and words! It's about bridging the gap and if music can't do it, then what will?

  • We would not be interested in this song.. nor would we know the lyrics.. if it wasn't for Sons of Admirals

  • @ingelaaaaaa Some of them are in there 20's now. So they're not all teenagers AND It's BLUE and red hair. and I'm pretty sure they DO have talent as does Cat Stevens.

  • @ingelaaaaaa well gee thanks ..... i have green hair but i'm certainly not talentless lol ... like they say talent is useless unless you know what to do with it :D oh and for the record my hair is green orange AND red

  • @JasmiineeRose Are you seriously saying that nobody would know about Cat Stevens, one of the greatest songwriters of all time, if he hadn't been covered by a bunch of youtubers with pretty voices?

  • @rthompson39 No.. I'm just saying I'm pretty sure the majority of people here.. know this song because of Sons of Admirals. For example the top comment: Thumbs up if you are here because of the Sons of Admirals.

  • @JasmiineeRose well, however anyone got here really doesnt matter.....here you are.....welcome to the brilliance that is... Cat Stevens!

  • Rushmore!

  • One of the greatest singer songwriters of all time. The sons of admirals can't hold a candle to this guy. Absolute legend.

  • for all those who likes Sons Of Admirals cover more..

composing a song like this at the age of 18 is no joke.. Sons Of Admirals cant compose anything close to this even when they are 81 years old.. lol :D Yusuf aka cat stevens Rocks!

  • Kinda disappointing this wasnt a SOA original, but Cat is still amazing. :D

  • Thumbs up if you are here because of the Sons of Admirals :D

  • o.O *Mind- Explosion!*

I thought the Sons of Admirals wrote this!!!

  • I was on concert last week in Munich. And he sang "you're forever TEXTING on the phone" In a place of "you're forever TALKING on the phone " :-))) It was so funny... He ´s just AMAZING..

  • @184lisa hihi, he did the same in vienna last tuesday :))

  • @184lisa :D that is so funny!

  • Brilliant luv.............keep it up :)

  • Forget the Muslim crap! Read on why he adopted this religion and maybe you would not be so anti-Cat Cat was a great artist and made some of the best music in this era.

  • I prefer Sons of Admiral....

I think out of that sentence i spelt most of it wrong...

  • ohmfgmncxbvisu.... i thought it was written by sons of admirals - such a disappointment. Hooray to Cat Stevens!

  • damn this guy is talented

  • I prefer Cat Stevens' version, but all the covers are pretty much sound the same. I just feel like this one sounds a little bit less contrived.

  • LOVE BOTH VERSIONS!

  • "Here Comes My Baby" was my intro to Stevens thru The Tremeloes.

  • THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THIS VERSION WAS ON A CAT STEVENS GREATEST HITS CD (THOUGH KNEW HE WAS THE COMPOSER) ALTHOUGH ALOT DIFFERENT TO THE "TREMELOES" VERSION - NEVERTHELESS ITS CERTAINLY WORTH LISTENING TO.

  • I like both of these versions, but people tend to like the first one they heard, and I saw the Sons of Admirals cover first, so I prefer that one. The original is still great, though :D

  • I like both versions. The arrangements are different, they both have their own merits. (About the video objectively: the spinning diamond thing is a little distracting.)

  • I love the Sons of Admirals version, and I wouldn't have known about the original if it weren't for them. :)

  • Pretty talented fellow indeed. Amazing song writer.

  • I absolutely love Cat Stevens! He's probably my favorite singer songwriter of all time.

  • 1:05 if she's always on the phone, doesn't that mean she's always at home, because cell phones didn't exist when this was written? eh, maybe i'm overanalyzing

  • @PurplePlatypusPoop Good point, but who's factchecking. And this IS a song written by Cat the dog lover...lol

  • @PurplePlatypusPoop Also, the cell phone did exist but normal people didn't have it at that time

  • I must say, I never knew he wrote this and "The First Cut Is the Deepest."

  • I like the sons of admirals cover better. Not to mention the awesome cover by ALL CAPS. I wonder if Cat Stevens knows about them.

  • @markisonlin3 cat stevens is a muslim nasheed singer now

  • @markisonlin3 No way. This version is so much better.

  • WOOOOHOOOOO MY COMMENT IS THE SECOND MOST RATED IN THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!! WOOOT XDDD WIIIIII jajajajajajajaja thanks guys and girls :D

  • Oh I really thought it was an original song by SoA ... disapointed ...

  • @wallever it is Cat Stevens wrot the song!

  • What a great talant...

  • Cat Stevens = SoA

  • I like the Sons of Admirals version of it better....is that bad? NO! <3 but this is...good...ish.

  • @XxkateissocoollikexX /watch?v=vR5wKLfzGHo&feature=BF&list=FL1sw5FbEUxNw&index=98 definetly

  • This song is so sweet. Both Sons of Admirals and Cat Stevens are awesome. SoA just put their own spin on it. What's so bad about that. :|

  • For the same song, the SoA and this version is totally different. You can't really compare it at all. They're both pretty good:)

  • Cat Stevens > SoA

  • THANK YOU WES ANDERSON FOR PUTTIN GREAT MUSIC IN YOUR MOVIES!!!!

  • @harmansg hahahah rushmore sent me here

  • RUSHMORE!

  • Sons of Admirals are gay. Even the Mavericks did a better cover and I hate country! Cat Stevens for the win

  • I checked out the sons of admirals one... Sorry but it lacks the intent and raw emotion behind it, and frankly misses the whole point. The song is about a love that can't be, but never forgotten. As the beautiful clip states in the bottom left corner,, "Until forever" Aaah memories.

  • great song.

  • i dont think the SOA version have vulnerable and sweet enough voices to match the original, more like a modern karaoke spin-off

  • @ibrahimadat They're just not quite as good. Still very talented, but I think they should try writing some of their own songs, see what happens.

  • All versions deserve love, why are you guys fighting about it? O.o

Personally I prefer the SOA version, mostly because of charlie and nerimon.

  • Cat Stevens was a musical genius. In his teenage years he was writing stuff like this. If he was born later and mixed with the youth of today, he would blow them away.

  • Yeah I like the singers in the SOA verison better

  • you should listen to the All Caps and the Alex Carpenter covers :D

  • I was working and this song came on the radio. I nearly lost it.

  • Guys, this is just a good song in general, all versions are awesome!

  • I like both versions, heard this one first and then recently heard the SOA one. Both good in their own way. :D

  • Comment removed

  • No Offence Cat Stevens - but SOA did it better...

  • @MarionPappilon I really despair ~ your 'comment' is so ridiculous, it's seriously offensive!!

  • @ruskin57 i didn't mean to offend anyone - i was just stating my opinion. I'm sorry if i offended you - and you are completely entitled to your own opinion, and i respect that opinion.

  • @ruskin57

that's a complete over reaction, in what way is it offensive? imo sons of admirals improved this song greatly

  • @MarionPappilon No offence idiot, but this is the ORIGINAL, and will always be the best version.

  • @banandababa You mind? I was merely stating an opinion - agree to disagree?

  • The Tremeloes made it the Hit! Cat Stevens was the one who wrote the song! Harold & Maude the film from 1975 has all Cat Stevens songs as the soundtrack! The Sons of Admirals do the best version of "Here Comes My Baby!"

  • The Tremeloes made it the Hit! Cat Stevens was the one who wrote the song! Harold & Maude the film from 1975 has all Cat Stevens songs as the soundtrack! The Sons of Admirals do best version of "Here Comes My Baby!"

  • Rushmore !

  • sons of admirals do it better.

  • i prefer the Sons of Admirals version!!!!!!!

  • I thought that this song was sons of admirals song.........until i saw this :(

  • @DaisyisaParamorefan your an idiot.

  • @egnitS well so r u

  • @egnitS That's a horrible word. And you misspelled "you're."

  • @serenap05 thanks sooo much for agreeing with me they dont even know me and what did i do?!

  • @egnitS

in what way does that make him an idiot? if he was hearing the song for the first time then obviously he's going to believe that sons of admirals wrote it. it's common sense.

the only idiot here is you.

  • I heard the Alex Carpenter cover.

Then I heard the ALL CAPS cover.

Then I heard the SOA cover.

    Then I heard the original.

XD I...like the Alex one the best. But they're all great. <3

  • cat stevens is the man !!

  • Charlie, Tom, Edd and Alex (Sons of Admirals) do it 1000 times better.

  • @jollyhere94 0/10 troll, try harder

  • @jollyhere94 Is that all, just 1000 better than the original? You musically ignorant f+ck, what a w+nker!

  • Comment removed

  • @ruskin57 Since when does having an opinion other than yours and expressing it on YouTube make someone a musically ignorant f-ck/w-nker?

  • @jollyhere94 An opinion is a considered judgment not a one off gratuitous, outrageous, throwaway line by a juvenile, star struck by yet another vacuous boy band. As for ‘my opinion’ I hadn’t given one but I will say that Cat Stevens is rightly regarded by peer musicians as having written and performed many exceptional songs which have been extensively covered sometimes very well (eg The Mavericks), not just with an overlay of noise and off key attempts at singing.

  • has he got any more up-tempo tracks like this?

  • @ibrahimadat A couple that just popped into my mind are (I'm sure there are more) "Don't Be Shy" and "If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out."

  • @ibrahimadat "Tuesday's Dead"

  • @ibrahimadat you have to hear Gotta let it out! Best song out side of moonshadow father and son and numerous others

  • @thjjojodesign do you mean cant keep it in?

  • I prefer this one to the Son's of admirals one :L

  • i looove cat stevens.

  • He is just as adorable as ice cream.

  • I was raised on this version. Cat Stevens was a staple in my household (and he remains one in my personal vinyl collection), but the admirals are talented as well and they share Cat's music with people in my generation who weren't lucky enough to be exposed to it growing up. :D

  • Charlie Mcdonnel's version is better in my opinion.

  • @XxSarah1337Xx Oh great we are so thrilled to have your opinion?

  • @katydidscorner and it has been done again. i hope this is a song that is going to be covered for generations to come. each difffernt. its a realy good show on how music evolves

  • i prefer the sons of admirals one because its remixed for a modern type, and thats my kinda style, but this one sounds very oldies and nostalgic. :)

  • SOA version is better but i like this version too :)

  • @igotyourmoney23 the "SOA" version almost made me hate this song

  • i think they played this song while they hung Sadaam

  • i remember listening to this song when i was a kid i loved cat stevens from the age of 6 i sthough lady d'erbanville was the best though. :)

  • goodbye everyone im dying now

  • i prefer the one from the sons of admirals <3

  • Meh. I like SOA one better because it's faster. lol. but both are good(:

  • Isn't it a testimant to the song if a cover of a cover of a cover of it is still good? Old fans, lay off the Admirals fans. Admirals fans, the new one wouldn't exist without the old so it doesn't really matter which one you want to play over and over. Just chill out.

  • Yusuf Islam FTW!

  • Sons Of Admarals done a better versoin CHARLIE MCDONNEL FTW!

  • This song is now a meme.

  • who cares which version is better? Im just glad that SoA made the cover because if wouldn't done it I would never seen the original version, i mean, just thanks to SOA for making the 21st century people know this song :D

  • @vacster123 But...

The original has 1/10th the views. This angers me incredibly.

  • @PokemonBlackLP I can understand why you'd be annoyed, but look at it this way. If SoA didn't do their cover, this video would probably half as many views as it does now. Look at the comments and you'll see that so many people (like myself) found the Cat Steven's version because of Sons of Admirals.

I personally like this one better, but both are fantastic.

  • @vacster123 SOA means STD in dutch, lolled. But good point :D

  • the original is always better ;)

  • Quite franky... WHO CARES WHERE PEOPLE HEARD THE SONG FIRST.

As long as we can share our love for the music, then does it really matter. I heard the song on scrubs first, but that doesnt matter at all, neither does it if you first heard it on the radio, or is you heard it through Sons of Admirals.

The point is... Its a fantastic song, and we love it. Thats all there needs to be of it.

  • This is easily the best version.

  • @whyte1988 Fo' sho'
