Whats the update on the durability of the grappling hook? Have you used it more than once for climbing? I know the website says its not for climbing, partially for precaution against a lawsuit of some sort. The steel rods seem so strong, I just can't see the grappling hook breaking while carrying something less than 200 (seems like a good weight range for a ninja!)
@GreekGadgetGuru I use it all the time... (despite what all the crybabies on here say!).. WORKS GREAT! The 1 concern is the threads.. I had 1 and threw it over & over.. after falling 30 feet or so when i didnt get a good bite the target ledge the threaded ends got weaker.... now....If you use this for descending from your position it's PERFECT!! I do still throw it to do an ascend type climb but if I miss I catch the hook so It doesn't land on the spikes!
Just make sure you be smart and safe...! the gloves look like tactical gloves. And i suppose a person could use parachute cord that is actually thinner than that stuff and has a 520 lb. test,...both these things you could pick up at military surplus or supply store.

Nice video! I JUST ordered mine about ten minutes ago, and am very excited. I'm happy to see it in action. If used correctly, it will make a fine climbing tool, just need to make sure all the weight isn't directly on the hook itself. As you have it here, the weight is distributed between the rope and the hook, as it goes over the bar and then down. With a few wraps around a branch or something , I think it will do fine. Now I need to go watch your other gear videos, thanks!
@urasukup I know what it is used for, and I know they are not recommend for life support..... But they have a 365lbs. static weight limit and I am about 167lbs. (should be fine if your not swingin' like a monkey)...

If it then bends or breaks, there is nothing to hold on or keep ninja save. That's why we today do not rock climb with hemp robes, because of the improper dynamic abilities. That's why modern rock climbing hooks break within more than 15 tons, and do not only hold 1500 lbs...

I made need to use it for an emergency decent one day and so testing was a good idea! I DON'T USE THIS AS A MAIN HOOK!!!

As others have said, this hook is NOT FOR CLIMBING. It's designed for snagging trip wires. It's not intended to hold the weight of a person.

Ya, this hook is pretty strong but I think I will use it for descending only... the static test is over 350lbs...but that is static... so this will be my emergency "get me outta here" hook. I still like the big black hook as a primary...

the gloves look like tactical gloves. And i suppose a person could use parachute cord that is actually thinner than that stuff and has a 520 lb. test,...both these things you could pick up at military surplus or supply store.

Nice video! I JUST ordered mine about ten minutes ago, and am very excited. I'm happy to see it in action. If used correctly, it will make a fine climbing tool, just need to make sure all the weight isn't directly on the hook itself. As you have it here, the weight is distributed between the rope and the hook, as it goes over the bar and then down. With a few wraps around a branch or something , I think it will do fine. Now I need to go watch your other gear videos, thanks!

@urasukup I know what it is used for, and I know they are not recommend for life support..... But they have a 365lbs. static weight limit and I am about 167lbs. (should be fine if your not swingin' like a monkey)...
I inspected everything after and it was 100%....
I am not using this as a main climbing tool, just for emergency.... It will hold!

@Imprisonedbutterfly1 Sure, it will hold... but if you slip and regrab the robe, you do not have static forces, you will have dynamic forces acting to the hook. If it then bends or breaks, there is nothing to hold on or keep ninja save. That's why we today do not rock climb with hemp robes, because of the improper dynamic abilities. That's why modern rock climbing hooks break within more than 15 tons, and do not only hold 1500 lbs...
