Yep. In addition to Whitesnake, Warrant, Winger, Poison, Mr. Big, Fire House, Great white, White Lion etc. all sucked, and there were many others. There is an interesting interview with Dee Snider (from Twisted Sister) on youtube.  He describes an article (I think from Rolling Stone) asking 80's hair band icons how they felt when shown a picture or video of themselves from the 80's. "Embarrased" is the number one response, followed by "It wasn't my idea to look that way."

He (Snider) goes onto say that the reason behind their embarrassment is due to the fact that musicians were "marketed" by people who didn't care about the music. They had different teams of people picking out their wardrobes and hair styles, another team directing their videos, and another handling their P.R. The music was considered secondary to all other concerns, and because we (the public) had no other modern rock to listen to we fell for it; hook, line and sinker.

Snider claimed he avoided all of it by doing what he wanted to do, and spent less time on his hair and more time on his music. Thus whenever he sees himself deom the 80's he thinks he looks cool. I am not a Twisted Sister fan, but his explanation was brilliant. Look for the interview here on youtube. (Motley Crue and Cinderella could have been great bands, but the hair and the tight jeans got in the way.)
