@PHONEMIKEEEEE ...Dude..I can hook on to load of produce in LA and in less than 21 hours be backed up to the dock in Denver and have slept some on the way....over 1000 miles...it would take me two days back in the seventies to do the same thing....the newer..the better...
@raginroadrunner I wouldn't go that far. Certainly newer trucks are better is most every way - safety, fuel economy & creature comforts. However these old trucks can still pull trailers just like they did decades ago. Plus they have more character than the plain looking trucks of today will ever have.
@raginroadrunner It's no different than comparing a '53 F100 to '12 F150 or '12 Mustang GT to a '65 Mustang. The new ones perform better in all categories, but the old ones are worth more now than ever. Rough & rusty '57 Chevys are worth lots of money. People just love old cars and trucks in spite of their faults. Perhaps it's their personality and owning a piece of history. Its the same with these old Macks, KWs or Peterbilts. Just look at all of the old truck vids on YT.
@nashi55 ...Yeah..I know..after 37 years in trucking. Dam near froze to death in a Mack, had a GMC that was the biggest piece of junk, had an International that wasn't too bad but it had problems too..had a Peterbilt that ate front springs and a KW that had the worst crossmembers in the frame I had ever seen...had a new Freightliner (1998)that was as smooth as glass and was the best ruck I had ever driven. The old ones cost me money..the Freightliner was just the opposite..if I had a choice FRTl
@raginroadrunner If I was starting a trucking business, no question I'd want new trucks. They are the most reliable, efficient and safest way to go. But I'd just have to have at least one old truck in the fleet to take to shows or do a local LTL runs to promote the company. Thanks for all of those years - truckers keep this country moving!
@phattvids..pieces of history???...more like pieces of absolute junk..and there is no reason to preserve junk...these trucks were some of the worst engineered vehicles ever made..so bad infact that Mack went completely broke several times only to be taken over by Renalt and now Volvo owns them....go out on the interstate and count the Macks you see...almost."NONE"!!!.its all Freightliner and International.....
@raginroadrunner Say what you want about these old trucks...I was never left stranded on the side of the road in my old R model...nowadays my new truck will shut down when a sensor malfunctions. I will say new trucks win hands down for creature comforts and noise reduction though.
@raginroadrunner. in a year's worth of work. i'll make more clear profit with a r686st than you will with anything else. chrome don't get you home.

The door to the sleeper on the orange tractor is open.

The orange truck is really nice but it would look better with dual stacks.

@CowboyPenner Yep - don't they all....lol. It was nice!!
nashi55 1 year ago
@nashi55 I wouldn't say no if he offered to let me take it for a rip but one stack makes it look lopsided.

@CowboyPenner Agreed - it makes it looked balanced.

The orange truck is owned by Mike(called recall last name), the red is Don Stewart. Both members of the Buckeye Vintage Haulers(ATHS)

ありそうで中々ないオレンジ色ってのが
Rシリーズの丸っこいデザインに似合ってて可愛いらしくていいねぇ。
それにシングルスリーパー付きのちょいロングホイールベースってのもシブい。。。
