Cooke is just fulfilling his role. He is a checker and is supposed to make the other teams best players think twice about taking their time with the puck. The injury to savard is unfortunate, but he did not leave his feet and it was not late by any means. His elbow stayed down and I am not sure about some of you, but I was taught that shoulder checks are clean provided you don't charge or hit from behind, which he did not. Savard put himself in a vulnerable position and he paid the price.

old-time-hockey had WAY less vicious hits... anyone who thinks there was doesn't really know old hockey. Old hockey was slower and had much more player impedence of speed. It is a phenomenon of the modern game and needs to be fixed. Either fix the blind side hitting or ban kids under 13 from hockey games. I hate seeing kids at games as much as I hate idiot beligerent fans. Figure out who hockey is for ... kids or criminals or somewhere in between.

Cooke is just fulfilling his role. He is a checker and is supposed to make the other teams best players think twice about taking their time with the puck. The injury to savard is unfortunate, but he did not leave his feet and it was not late by any means. His elbow stayed down and I am not sure about some of you, but I was taught that shoulder checks are clean provided you don't charge or hit from behind, which he did not. Savard put himself in a vulnerable position and he paid the price.
