I'm loving the macbook pro. The battery life is what's pissing me off. Also, Snow Leopard seems to mess up itunes and firefox as it freezes the computer. Also, Using CS3 programs like photoshop will make the OS VERY unstable.

awesome macbook!! I currently have the 2.0 GHz iMac Aluminum with 3 GB of Ram. It runs really smooth and fast still its just a little over a year old but i still love it lol. Im looking to buy a new macbook in the summer and prob the higher end macbook like you have. Im hoping that they update the specs in this macbook to higher processor and everything. I have a new macbook 2.4ghz and the deal with macs not getting virus is like this. most virues have like a root they fellow like a format as in like a save as folder it goes in. and most known virus today are all windows formated virus so most big ones save to your system32 folder which is your main base of your pc. in windows theres more 3rd party programs and its easy to make your own program in windows then it is mac so thats why we dont have virues at all but they are a few out therebut rare

I'm going to be getting one of these - but I need some advice: should I get 2gb of ram, or 4gb? I wouldn't ever be running TOO many applications at the same time, but some of them might be kinda intensive - like I might use it to render a 3d animation while listening to itunes, surfing the web, and maybe even playing a game. I also plan to use it for windows xp, which I would want to be able to do the same stuff in. So does that sound like I'm better suited for 2gb, or 4gbs of ram? Thanks.

4gb would be a good choice from what I've read, and you'll be able to add to that list if you need to.

2GB should be fine for you. Windows XP runs well on 1GB as well. Especially since the new MacBooks use DDR3 ram over the previous gen's DDR2 ram, which are much faster than before. However, if it makes you feel better, go for 4GB. I would say save the money and get it someday later when it's cheaper.

Actually, you can link your two Macs together and transfer your files at the beginning of the OS set up. But if you want to swap hdds, it's best to ask Apple Geniuses in the Apple store just to make sure.

Alex, I don't understand how you've only got 90MB of free RAM - could you say what apps you have open? I'm looking to upgrade with a new laptop soon and having that amount of memory available from 2GB doesn't sound very impressive.

I ask because I currently have a G4 PPC 768MB OSX3.9 and with Photoshop(medium sized file open), a picture browser(ACDSee) & Itunes open I still have 15MB to spare.

It will show you the information on the document app or photo...

Also to quickly close a window (not program) just click Command + W

btw, now that you have mac, shift+command+4 is to take a snapshot. ctrl+command+power button is to force restart. command+tab is to scroll through all your open applications. on finder, if you press spacebar on any item on your desktop, it'll tell you it's information.
