Thats what you dont understand about the sweet science, a boxer obligates you to fight his fight, you cant go for the takedown he will always be in good distance and lift you up with an uppercut, you try to stand with him he will overcome you with speed, power and repertory, the only thing you got left are kicks wich you have to be a master of kicks, most of the mma fighters just arent, you have to get lucky and prey for a takedown.

Tim wanted to get into boxing and underestimated Ray's power. Power is the last thing a fighter loses. He was very foolish to want to box Ray. One other note, it is difficult for a guy the size if Tim to shoot for a take down. Bad match up is all. Ray has fought the best boxers in the world and has hammers for fists but a grappler would have little problem with him.

I dont believe you had semi pro boxing fights, first theyre call amateur theres no semi pro fights, on the other way i havent fought professionally but i have over 3 years fighting amateur fights on mexico 33-9, i have tried olympic wrestling as well and to go for a takedown against a good boxer is very hard, imma give you an example Anderson Silva is rarely seen on the floor and hes footwork is not as good as a pro boxer, but last fight the wrestler finded him but its very rare.
