I'm struck watching these videos by something I'd never really considered before, that just as patents reward r&d, they also impede it if not pooled in some way. There aren't a whole lot of people who would disagree with you there, jimius, but I'm glad ideas are being discussed.
I think this is proposed just for the developing world though? I think the general gist of what they're saying though is that the big pharma companies aren't going to make anything in the developing world as long as the patients can't afford it, which they're saying they can't without combining drugs from the different companies. The drug companies can't be all evil, I hope. I think they're worried about those cheaper medications entering developed markets and destabilising them there.
Err, how does the price drop if the patent pool licence is a fixed sum? FRAND isn't, stop using it.
Stupid idea. Just invalidate the patents.

Big pharma likes big profits, a "fair reward" for their patent isn't going to be big enough. Why switch a monopoly for cooperation with lower profits?
the Pharma industry is no longer about helping ppl, it's a business, it's about sales and profits.
