As far as I know theyre no longer in use because they sometimes twiddled and didnt followed their orders so it was thought to be arguable.
Btw at smmeegal: its really simple i think everyone could built something like that for a few thousend Dollar - exaggerated of course - but they cost 200.000$! I guess the draftsmen are smarter than me but nevertheless I cant imagine how they wasted so much money -.-
Yah wot a stupid machine, has it taken them this long to put a gun on a coupla tank tread thingys? Operating weapons from behind the safe little screens jus like all those vid games. I'm sure there's lots more 'advanced' stuff in store for us all, oh soz weapons r just for killing da Enemy not me and everyone I know. Spend the dosh on helping people become empowered n stuff like food. They're quite pricey, wonder why they've got so much time, effort and resources to make these 'killer' toys.Duck
This robot was actually designed to safely detonate bombs or bring supplies into dangerous areas. It's not really a radio-controlled weapons platform like the air drones.
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2. A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
@BerendBroekhoff "The Foster-Miller TALON robot is a small, tracked military robot designed for missions ranging from reconnaissance to combat. Over 3000 TALON robots have been deployed to combat theaters."
@lukeves is it or is it not CONTROLLED by a Soldier? and I'm talking about the sword not some Foster-Miller TALON robot you brought into the discussion
@BerendBroekhoff This one is but they have some autonomous combat drones that Have already finished most of their tests that will be getting released in 2014. It ranges from autonomous tanks, humvees, fighter jets, stealth bombers and insect suicide drones. Their talking about replacing a third of the human military in the middle of this decade.
dude why do you people keep quoting irobot? but this thing is awsome, now we can send "soldiers" into terrorist position without risking true human soldiers lives. all the less casualty rates.
For what purpose Technology is used for doesn't depend on Countrys, it depends on the people who are using/developing it for. American Killer robots can be used for saving ppl and the jap robots can be used to kill ppl, it always depends on the ppl behind the robots.
Actually, robots are by necessity designed to do only a few things - ever.
So, sorry, japan simply don't built many robots that are designed for warfare. Perhaps a few, but certainly not on the scale that america does. And certainly not with the same attitude that it's macho to slaughter people. That era is long, long gone (Time for the usa to grow up hey?!)
this is not about my argumentation, this is about the fact that you thought that this robot was a "fake", i just wanted to show you with the 2 videos i showed you that this is a real one and that's it. Thx.
Oh I believe it can fire a weapon, no problem - and as long as it's in a firing range, with no movement, then I'm sure that, with time, it will actually hit what it is hoping to hit.
On the other hand, an orangutan can also fire a weapon, but with substantially more accuracy.
Riveting.

That dooesn't apply to machines without thought.

@LordOfTheGnus yes it does it applies to "robots" not "AI" so STFU NOOB

this is no robot, this is a radio control machine. so all these rules can kiss this advanced fighting systems ass

I can't put my finger on it but this comes from a fucking movie. I can't remember though.

yeah. keep up the "good work" over there.
So you found those weapons of mass destruction yet? no?
Need a stationary robot that makes a sound like a machine gun to help you?
bonzonobeans 3 years ago 2
erm, they dont make a sound linke a machine gun, they actually shoot real guns...
Workerstar1 3 years ago
you must be proud on it.
Persialive 3 years ago
haha!
Nah, there's nothing in that video that looks like a gun being shot, or anything being hit - just a bad recording of a machine gun.
Good luck to you when you try to prove your claim kiddo.

watch this two videos, it was at discovery channel
/watch?v=cGKTLlOPB-w (Future Weapons: SWORDS PT 1/2)
/watch?v=BV3UJ91zxhM (Future Weapons: SWORDS PT 2/2)
It'll be like ppl behind computers playing realy toys Vs. "Terrorists"
Workerstar1 3 years ago
HAHAHA!.
It looks as though it has the accuracy of 4 month old with a baseball bat.
I love the quote "anything can happen when a robot is given a machine gun" - you could do better with maccano.
our mate dave platt managed to turn a search and rescue machine into something that kills people - onya america!
I'll stick to jappo robots thanks, smarter and they're not made to slaughter people
That's the diff between jap and usa robots - american bots kill people, jappo bots save and help people.
