  • Thumbs up if Ashley Benson sent you heere! THANKS ASHLEY!

  • just found out why Ashley tweeted this. The little girl (well not little anymore) Tatum O'Neal was in Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal with Ashley

  • Ashley Benson Tweeted This .

  • Ashley Benson sent me here :D!

  • Ashley Benson sent me here! Ballin'

  • peter bogdanovich said to tatum o'neal "play like John wayne" about that "then get it" - part.

if you have a criterion dvd, there's a beautiful audio commentary by Bogdanovich himself

  • Great film.

  • There's a reason she's such a scary kid. Her daddy beat her when she got an Oscar nomination and he didn't.

  • no, i ain't hungry. i want my $200 and a daddy, bitch

  • The song in the background is Ozzie Nelson's "About A Quarter to Nine" which was a top ten hit in 1935. Arranged by Billy Fisher, who later arranged for Gleason and Sullivan's shows.

  • this guy is her real father in real life

makes the scene even more enjoyable lol

  • Her name aint precious....

  • I never saw this film - anyone that has: Does he turn out to be her father, or not, or do they leave it a mystery?

  • @2taggs2: Its never confirmed in the film. It leaves the viewer to decide !

  • @2taggs2 If you haven't seen this movie, do yourself a favor: GO WATCH IT!

Tatum O'neal got a well deserved oscar for her performance - PRICELESS!

  • I remember watching this scene when I was very young - - - and laughing hysterically when she said "Then git it"!! Love it!

  • It must be thirty years since I saw this. Why it isn't shown on TV is beyond me. There must be a whole generation who have never enjoyed this work of art.

  • @310396

Just saw this for the first time, last night, on TV. To be honest, I picked up on the fact it was more modern than it looked - that it was a homage to much earlier cinema styles, but I figured it was only five or ten years old. To hear it's older than me... that is one timeless piece of film making.

  • @310396 It's here on youtube in the suggestions

watched it last week, put it to a playlist and monged out on the sofa.

  • this movie is the shit and good scene.

  • "Trip delayed but I'm coming real soon!'

  • i don't see how she got nominated for best SUPPORTING actress :S tatum absolutely owns that movie.

this scene is hilarious! definitely one of my faves:)

  • great movie!!! tatum was excellent and so was ryan. and tatum deserved the oscar. wish i could fin this on dvd. i would love to own a copy.

  • "I want my 200 dollars." "But I don't have it." "Then get it." Ha-Ha The best! =0

  • He was a great actor, but nightmare father. He was so bitter at her winning the Oscar he didnt even accompany her to the ceremony. She had to go alone at age 10.

He definately should have won an Oscar for this film, but to take it out on your little daughter is unforgivable.

  • @ipolson Well, Ryan seems like an extremely self-centered person, so it's typical. He is a "me me me-er" for sure.

  • @ipolson what, really? he couldn't attend her oscar acceptance. he was filming in ireland and couldn't make it. he had his parents go along with tatum to accept her oscar. she grew up to be a jealous kid who didn't accept her father's happiness until years later. tell it like it happened

  • Amazing scene.

  • I WANT MY 200 DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Eat your conney island! :)

  • I guess daughters tend to favor thier father more than thier mother. She looks just like him.

  • At this time Ryan O'neal was the best actor on the planet. What a fuckin tour de force this role is. Amazing talent.

  • What a great film. An absolute classic :)

  • I luv it when she says "then get it"

  • LOL. "Your mama was real proud of the happiness she gave to people." She was a prostitute.

  • but i'm coming REAL SOON!

  • Fantastic!

  • She reminds me of dirty harry and terminator(I'll be back) when she says 'Then get it' too funny

  • What a fine, fine, fine movie....

  • EAT YO CONEY ISLAND!!!

  • @ipolson no brother and sister like i said

  • Amazing movie! and amazing song w/ the name. Boy this generation does not know the Depression ear and this level of suffering.

  • u know dey r bro nd sis in real life rite

  • This is the greatness of real good actors: they can look like they've got real good chemistry onscreen though in real life there's nothing but mutual loath between them. These great actors, they're consummate pros. :)

  • @reremwatson13: father and daughter !

  • @reremwatson13 Actually, he (Ryan O'Neal) is her (Tatum O'Neal) father.

  • 1:19 Sugar dispenser

  • John Wayne line 4:41

  • My eight year old girl wanted to study the presidents on her own so while at the store one day, she bought a place mat with all of the presidents on them. I spent many hours helping her learn the presidents names but when it came to Franklin Roosevelt, I told her to call him "Frankie." Now when I ask her who the president during the great depression was....she'll say in her innocent, 8-year-old voice..."Frankie Roosevelt !" She sounds so much like Tatum that I just have to giggle...

  • Great movie.

  • 2:00

  • The director of this movie took Tatum aside and advised her how to play this scene or how to deliver the line " Then get it." Basically he told Tatum. " Take your time with that line." and used John Wayne as an example. " Most of all remember you got him by the balls.." Tatum blushed and exclaimed " Ohh Peter.." and then they shot the scene. Goes to show how good directing and a great actress equals a brilliant piece of cinamtic history.

  • "Eat your Coney Island and then marry a millionaire tennis player, then your troubles will be over"

    "I don't wanna. Give me my $200"

  • I never noticed just how much sugar Moze put into his coffee! And I've seen this movie a dozen times at least lol!

  • I am embarrassed to admit how many times I have seen this movie over the last fifteen years!! Let's just say many times. I love everything about the movie - the plot, the actors, the acting, the b&w effect, and of course the music. There was one mistake - in one segment her father lights a cigarette while in the car, and seconds later you see him finishing it. How could they not have spotted this in '73?

  • "I know a woman who looks like a bullfrog but that don't mean she's the damn thing's mother!" OMG LOL definetely in my top 5 movies

  • This was on TMC last night, a wonderful movie!

Definitely one of my new favorites.

  • this movie was gr\eat. love the cars/clotthes and music of the 30s

  • "Her name ain't precious!" lol

  • If you buy this movie on DVD there is a seperate section on "the making of papermoon". It shows a few of the bloopers during filming...they are a blast!

  • Terrific dialogue!

  • I love this movie

  • A Coney Island is a hot dog..although..I'd rather have a

    Nathan's Frank..now that's a hot dog!

  • is it true that her father mistreated her??I love them both... and this movie is so great.

  • This film just works on so many levels. This is an amazing scene. Ryan O'Neil's reaction with his mouth full when she first says "I want my $200" is absolutely priceless. This is comedy at its best, but there is so much more going on here. The icy stare she gives him "Then git it..." is chilling to think that she was 9 or 10 at the time this was filmed. Absolutely amazing.

  • she could pull off that hardened look because she had already been through a lot of pain by the time she made this film.

  • Tatum carried the movie and did brilliantly. I think it's her father's best performance. A great movie.

  • I flip every time I see this !

    Tatum is so cool.

  • Best scene in the movie.

    "Then I want my MONEY!"

  • EAT YOUR CONEY ISLAND!

  • This scene was filmed in McCracken, Kansas. Unfortunately, the building that they are in was torn down two years ago and is now a vacant lot. The building across the street is still there.

  • "I WANT MY MONEY!!!"

Adorable Tatum. My mother was identical to her as a child in the '30's. The O'Neal's accents are not always non-California-esq, but still they did ok. It's a classic film.

    ~"But I don't HAVE it!"

    -"Then git it." lol

  • Half the fun of this film is watching father and daughter acting together...they seem like they are having a ball.

  • what's a nehi? i figured a coney island is a hot dog, right?

  • A nehi is a soda that tastes like a Dr. Pepper.

  • Nehi was a grape soda.

  • Dr. Nehi was one flavor. Peach, Grape, and Orange were others as well as Root Beer and others. The original Nehi was actually cola. It was the cola that lasted the longest in popularity and the Nehi corporation later changed its name to Royal Crown Cola.

  • lol i lovvvvvvve this movie! its definitely one of my all time favorites

  • Nehi. It's brand of soda. Grape Nehi..they changed the name of the company to RC Cola in the 50's..but nehi is still around

  • what's a nehi? lol ya this movie's awesome...i saw it last night on tcm...is this on DVD release?

  • yo a nehi was aterm for a soda pop in those days cause the bottles were tall. good enough right?

  • NEHI? ok good enough...still wondering but good enough...

  • Corporal "Radar" O'Reilly's favorite drink was grape flavored NEHI.

  • I couldn't disagree more! Tatum's performance in this modern masterpiece is completely naturalistic & quite astonishing! I think it has to be the best child performance if any film from any era. As such, she certainly deserved her oscar & then some!

  • then why did the academy apologize for giving her an oscar when they were making public apologies for their mistakes over the years (like for Dances with Wolves over Goodfellas, Kramer vs. Kramer over Apocalypse Now, Ordinary People over Raging Bull, etc.)?

  • what are you talking about? what public apology?

  • Best Actor: Jack Lemmon as a crooked business man in Save The Tiger. Glenda Jackson A touch of Class and John Houseman as the cantankerous Harvard Law school professor in The Paper Chase.

  • Tatum O'Neal totally deserved the Oscar! I'm so happy she won! As far as Ryan O'Neal, a friggin dog could be a better actor. Thank God he never won an Oscar, besides his hey day was in like the 70's at thats it!

  • My sisters favorite movie

  • I know, it's a great movie. If they filmed it in color it would nothave been as good. The b&w gave it a 1930's feel, and it worked!

  • But I Don't have it!

    Then, get it!

The look on Tatum's Face. Amazing!

  • My fave scene in all of Moviewood. Now, if only AMC or the other networks would play this movie back to back like they do Forest Gump. Then, there would peace all over the land. lol -S

  • AMC is cheap..they run some of the cheesiest of movies while ignoring a masterpiece like this! This IS movie making!

  • i saw other day on t/v /long ago had the book.

  • hell im only 14 and this is my favorite movie!

  • I absolutely adore this film! Sadly, it's so underrated, while films like Babel are endlessly promoted (God knows why!).

This scene is absolutely classic film-making! Although I really love Trixie Delight in this movie aswell, she's hilarious!

  • Ahh, love this movie so much!

  • This is my favorite scene in the whole movie XD

    Thanks for uploading

  • one of the best movies ever loolz shes so cute tuff girl

  • I love this film the B&W really makes it , I especially love this scene, 2.46 with his mouth full ha, ha, ha. an her name-aint precious , love it all.

  • I live in St Joe--where much of this movie was filmed--and teach US history--I show it during my Great Depression Unit and give bonus points for kids who take pics of themselves in front of landmarks seen in the film (ie where he gets beaten up, Addie in front of the bank, and where Mose says he "swallowed his gold tooth".

  • my favorite movie!!!!! thanks

  • I just recorded this on my DVR the other day. I remember the day my Dad had introduced me to this. I love this movie so much. My dad was telling me he had seen this at the old drive in. LOL! Just wanted to say that this is one of the best movies I had ever seen in my life.

  • I love this scene. It's funny how Addie (Tatum) won't eat her food until she gets her money. It's also funny how Moze (Ryan) keeps telling her to eat her coney island.

  • I've always thought Ryan O'Neal was really overlooked for how talented and great he was in this film, Tatum was great and everyone raved, but no one said how great he was.

  • OF COURSE!

"Paper Moon" by Peter Bogdanovich is the greatest American Film ever made by The Greatesat American Movie Maker Ever. Why?

Because Peter Bogdanovich Is Serb and he knew the "soul" of American vasteland. Last scene of the film is unforgetable and VERY symbolic!

  • brilliant!

  • I just saw "Paper Moon" again--it was a memorial tribute to Laszlo Kovacs--and was even more impressed than I was the first time, and all the times since. What a perfect film--I hope everyone watches it!

  • Tatum was brilliant. Really gifted.

  • This is my favourite movie ever!!! God bless you American people for your movie making talents... An appreciative Scottish lass

  • One of the Top Ten classic scenes in American cinema. I was about 10 years old when I first saw this film (Tatum's age), and I could watch it endlessly.

  • Thanks for everything Laszlo! I hope the lighting is good, where ever you've gone.

  • I used to love this movie, haven't seen a frame of it in years, thanks so much for posting.

  • Tatum O'Neal was the Katherine Hepburn of child actors.

  • I love this movie!

  • great great great movie! She really deserved the oscar!! they just don't make movies like this anymore......

  • She was so cute in this film.

  • There are few movies that come out of Hollywood that are perfect. This is one of them, not one line, scene, or charicter change could improve this film. And thank God they made it in Black and white.

  • really good movie

  • this is hands down my favorite movie of all time . thanks so much !!!!

  • Amen to thatt! I think Ryan should have one though TOO! ..Was he nominated? I forget now, but EVERYone should have one EVERY nomination for this classic! {I never get tired of that little waffle breakfast scene between the two of them! THANK you for sharing this!:D

  • Great film

  • Classic.

  • I love this film so much. Tatum really deserved that Oscar.
