  • I am not proud of the troops or generals at Singapore. They do not deserve respect for such a catastrophic failure.

  • The British and General Percival got absolutely arse-raped.

  • @GnosticHumanist If we hadn't of been fighting in Europe, which was far more important than your little Asian colonized part of the world, we would have invaded Japan & you would have become a British colony. You owe everything to us- our scientists allowed you to become the country you are today. You have nothing on us, the greatest empire in history.

  • @TheLiberalKnight

I'm actually not Japanese, but nevertheless I find it funny how you base your identity and ego around the acheivments of other people who have absolutely nothing in common with you other than the fact that they shared the same shitty little mud-flat as a home.

People like you who are always so fanatical about nationalism clearly don't have a life yourselves, and so need to draw upon some (largely bogus) collective self-worth.

  • @GnosticHumanist So it's only a coincidence that the only people responsible for railways, trains, industry, steam engines, TVs, and the internet, are all British? Just a coincidence then, that this 'shitty little mud-flat' has single handedly invented the modern world, without any contribution from any country in Asia, Africa or America?

I am not a nationalist, I am patriotic. I believe the Japanese should thank us for inventing their economy.

  • blah blah blah... its all over alr

  • Don't forget that Japan contributed to Singapore's later development. Singapore's 1/3 of the land is reclaimed and Japan reclaimed those land with their advanced land reclaim technology. And in the 1990s Japanese companies were the first to come to Singapore and contributed the most to Singapore's development. This is why Singaporeans still like Japanese although they were invaded.

  • jap has been eat 2 atomic bomb!

  • screw WW2, its over, if we don't want WW3 to start, i suggest we let bygones be bygones.

  • Thx to Americans to bomb Japan or I would be deep

    Shit now

  • even japanese dunno how to speak english then if they go another country then how could they say english use google translate and they very very dumb at all

  • JAPANESE were one of the Most BARBARIC People who existed in a Modern world..

beheading prisoners.. cutting human bodies into half for their experiments...what more can I say?

  • My Grandad was captured at the fall of singapore so he obviously became a POW but anyone got anyidea what they did or went after being captured,,,this is a real question

Also thumbs down that jap at the top i realise britain made some problems but we helped the people we conquered by giving them peace, technology, health and other things in all the years we had control of thier countrys..Unlike the japenese who in less than 5 years destroyed all civilised things in eastern asia

    I could go on

  • Today is the Singapore History. World War 2 Singapore.

  • i saw this i feel like **** the japan

  • The japanese WERE BRUTAL SAVAGERS IN WAR! The british forces in singapore wernt equiped with modern equipment to fight a modern war many had OLD WW1 EQUIPMENT WEAPANS HELMETS! My grandads brother was taken prisoner by the japs 1942 YOU CANT IMAGEN SOME OF THE THING THEY DONE TO PRISONERS AND CIVILIANS! It wasnt human behaviour they were savagers WHO WHERE MESSED UP IN THE HEAD

  • @martynrobin121 my father's granddad got killed by a jap.

  • We can forgive but we cannot forget.......

  • the brits in malaya and singapore at that time were all turkeys......

such a waste of fine infantry, even 17 thousand GIs and 60 thousand philippinos in bataan did more than the brits to delay the japs timetable of conquest for australia...

    greetings from germany

  • @bugsy101073 The Brits can not do it all. We needed the support of the local Malays whom we were defending. If the US had those Philos fighting along side with them, these Malays were too dependent on us all they did was watch.

  • @101ers77 at some point, the malays did their defending...maybe u've heard that the most fierce land baltle of malaya was in the battle of bukit panjang..when malays did all the fighting....the only area the brits really lacked was in airpower...commonwealth troops really did fought like lions, but they were led by monkeys....sad to say

  • Considering their cruelty and general lack of apology up to today, I find it amazing what an amazing walk Japan got in regards to WW2.

  • 白人植民地主義の根を絶った日本の足跡は人類の希望の証として後世に語り継がれるだろう

    決して忘れる事は無い真実の話として

  • @tukaguti9 am i correct Japan broke the footsteps of the white roots of colonialism will be handed down to posterity as a proof of hope for humanity

Never forget there is a true story

  • @tukaguti9 You, as a Jap, have no right to voice your opinion on this conflict. Why we're at it... how about an apology. The Jap caused more suffering in South East Asia than the British managed in 200 years of Colonial Imperialism.

  • @tukaguti9 TALK ABOUT JAP SEX WASABI AND TERIYAKI SAUCE MORE TASTE

  • the brits did nothing in asia during the war. they were totally losers.

they have to thank America and USSR for beating japan.

  • "the brits did nothing in asia during the war"

The battle of Kohima and Imphal were Japan's biggest land defeat of the war. You have sucha superficial and juvenile opinion it's laughable.

  • Also, many Commomwealth scientists worked on the Manhattan Project.

  • The heroic stand of the 1st Malay Regiment at Bukit Chandu was very little mentioned in history...just wondering why?....

The late Lt. Adnan Saidi from the 1st malay Regiment did say to his men...Death before dishonour....before the Japanese overrun their position.....

and the Japanese General acknowledged that a few more men like the late Lt.Adnan Saide..the Japanenese have to pour in more resources to capture Malaya....

  • thank u for uploadin this.. we watch this in our school..last thursday..because of our total defence day,,..!!the whole school watch this video..thanks..!!!

  • Don tbe to ignorant of the history. There are 2 battalions of Malays soldiers in Singapore but they had been routed by the Japs.

  • well bet if there were 1 batalion of malay soldier during that time,...i can bet that japan will not take malaya easily,.....the turning point is when HMS prince of wales n repulse been sunked at Kuantan,....if the british organized a tactical defence in tebrau protecting its shore with both of the ship,..i think japan will never succeeded,...

  • How would you have like those 400 aircraft plus all the material in the Battle of El Alemian against you in Malaya, stop your stupid pride, I cannot remember your nation ever threatening our shores here in Western Europe. You were defeated by our troops in Burma towards the end of the war. AND YOU STILL HAVE NOT APOLOGISED FOR ALL YOUR DESPICABLE ACTS AGAINST HUMAN BEINGS OF ALL RACES.

  • There was no British armour there. There were no British Aircraft there. We were fighting the Germans in the Middle East. We sent 400 aircraft to the Russians. Now what if we were not fighting the Germans don't you think this story might not have been the same. I don't mean to be cocky here but this is way away from the British homeland, so please stop this arrogant Japanese diatribe, and you still have not apologised for all the atrocities your nation did in this period.

  • We didn't give up as such, it was a question of either fighting on and with it killing thousands of civilians, or surrendering and hoping to save lives.REMEMBER we were fighting against Rommel in Africa at the time plus sending aircraft to Russia. Without this conflict I am sure the Brits would have been able to stop the Jap adance.

  • i thought british was the country who safe singapore how come british give up on singapore

  • never ever heard of adnan until today. don't remember seeing him in history books oh well thanks

  • The Japanese emperor had no real power over the military govt by 1931. This was evident when the Japanese army went on to invade southeastern China despite the Emperor's edict for them to withdraw.

  • shutterbugwarrior YOU ARE A RETARD ! A BIG RETARD !

And please RESPECT THE JAPAN EMPEROR !

  • Your Emperor went into hiding after WWII..

  • My opinion, I think british was in trouble that time confronting Nazi. They can hardly take care their country, why bother us? (Malaysian). If say those Jap never come, and we never independence, are we going to worth British pound? If yes, then i will hate Jap. If no, then vise versa. Don't have to be pro, but winning war using bicycle, you bet!!! how shameful of losing this battle. I wonder why they like our jungle and coconut tree.

  • japanese fuck my ass, unprofessional who thinks you are one,ye all suck big time in okinawa during the last days of the war. noobs japs, i ask one ques, what you fought this war for? resources or power

  • sure for resources, or power . but what do you do for Singapole? You people probably just think at home. British and japanese pick up guns.

  • And japan got blasted to the stoneage twice. How I wished japan should get blasted by the nuclear bomb 100 times over in 1945. They deserved to get the nuclear bomb. Japan emperor is a retard.

  • if the emperor is retardeed then y would u punish the people u moron. :(

  • You are a retard. Go away.

  • Japan got its punishment...

so the British and Americans have to stop saying that Japan should have become American...

Japan was practicly destroyed and poisoned..

  • the brits did not have enought solider, tank, ship, aircraft and others to fight in southeast asisa because they too busy fighting in europe with the germans.

  • salute to the British Empire.dont blame the British, blame the Japanese!

  • Why play the blame game when it is all over now? Colonialism is long dead and the World War 2 played a big part in its demise.

Yes, many Colonial forces lost thier lives and so did many locals either as guerilla fighters or the small number of local troops the British had in their ranks, namely the Malay Regiment which was bravely lead by Lt Adnan and fought to the last man.

We all had blood spilt and at the end it was either your life you fought for or for a flag. Now, wake up and live.

  • The British like most other Colonial Powers like the Dutch and the French in the South East, underestimated the Japanese.

Singapore's Fall was the climax of this collective negligence.

The Commonwealth Forces were beaten back from Malaya into Singapore and many of the military tactics employed by the British and Australian Commanders were questionable.

A sad part of Singapore's history but a lesson learnt nevertheless and in a way, signalled the end of the colonial grasp on the world.

  • I WIHSED THAT JAPAN GO TO HELL!

  • u no need to wish most of them are alreadly in hell

  • I wish Chinese go home.

  • The best part of the entire war, the Brits don't fight in the night. It's a bloody war, not an office party!

We learned the hard way, that's why we fought for INDEPENDENCE.

    M203 Grenadier, LCP, SAF, 1SIR, C COY

  • Blame the british for all the hardships we get. and blame tomoYUCKi yamaSHITa!

  • Blitzkrieg bicycles.

  • they should never had surrendered my father was there,he said it was the top that caved in not the ordinary soldier!!.

when you see the surrender that the soldier threw down his flag in complete disgust!.

and because we surrenderd more died as a result not just brits but malyans and the rest at the death camps.

  • The British are well known cowards.

  • Oh c'mon.. then if that is the case why don't you declare a WAR against the brits.. c'mon pussy singaporean SONABAGOOKS!!! LET'S GO TO WAR!!!

  • Troll.

  • Yamashita is great.

  • brits = gays

    hahaha

  • Percival himself isn't solely to blame, all of the Empire's upper military command is to blame. They had months to prepare adequate fortifications, they had some of the BEST troops from several commonwealth nations (including the much famed Nepalese Gurkah's)and plenty of supplies, where as the Japanese were stretched thin far from home and food, and couldn't have lasted much longer at that pace. The fall of Singapore is one of the greatest military blunders of our time.

  • blame it to the local malay & chinese of singapore & malaya. they're not fighters! they're a bunch of pussies! doesn't know how to fight.

  • That is the biggest amount of bullshit i've ever heard. The Malay regiment was one of the few to actually FIGHT the japs until they were overwhelmed. 100 thousand of the Empires BEST soldiers, and they lost because of English high command incompetance. One of the good things about WW2 was the final eradication of heriditary title having anything to do with public or military office.

  • @Cullyn42 Actually most of the troops in Malaya Command were not trained properly, ultimately they were there as more a deterrent force.

  • lol! and where are those local malays & chinese soldiers? non-existent! they relied too much on foreign mercenaries to protect their homeland & now they're blaming them! those people are fags!

  • those local malays & chinese were shown on documentary films waving Japanese flags as the Japs & their tanks march & roll over the steets of Malaya! LOL!!!!!

  • Wow you're really very uneducated arn't you? Are you aware for instance that the local Malay's and Chinese wern't given any representation on how Singapore was run? Or that the entire Singaporean Government at the time was WHITE? That ALL military decisions were made by ENGLISH high command, who ignored advice from local Australian and Indian units to further fortify Singapore?

  • Despite that fact, the Malay regiment stood proud and fought the Japs. I have no doubt that you'd be waving the white flag when the shit hit the fan far faster than they did. Cunt.

  • SHUT UP!!!! you will never find any documentary videos of those so called Malay & Singapore Chinese regiments fighting the Japs! They fell so easily to the Japs! The people who fought for them were actually Indians, Nepalese, Brits & Australians! & those locals were pussies so they're NOT WORTH DYING FOR! GOT IT?

  • Are you a complete cunt or what? We wern't fighting for the Malays or Chinese, we were fighting for the extravagent amount of money that the English were making out of the port of Singapore you fucking moron. And how about, rather than basing your beliefs on antiquated retarded notion of race having anything to do with a peoples worth, you pick up a fucking history book and learn what the rest of us learned about the fall of singapore.

  • Look here buddy, or whatever faggot you call yrselves heros. We locals are not pussies. S'pore was a colony of Her Maj's Empire. NO LOCALS ALLOWED IN THEIR ARMY SYSTEMS. All locals in the systems are likes slaves, cleaning the toilets and all. ALL resistant fighters are local, terrorist towards the Japs. Your studies and shut up yrself. YEah, free-speech for all but that doesn't mean you can just FUCK UP others when your brain is like SHIT. All you WHITES are the same.

    M203, SAF, 1SIR,

  • amazing video....very helpfull

  • 66 years to the fall of singapore 15th feb 1942-15th Feb 2008.. "Lest we forget"

  • What 66 years?? The WW2 has already ended LONG TIME AGO!!

  • for your info,it was 66 yrs to the day (15th feb 1942-15th feb 2008) Singapore fell..don't you know your history?

  • Read up on some history..Being an ignorant airhead is not going to help

  • By the way, if you wanna blame someone, blame the Monk of the WW2!

  • I may be Singaporean...but its not the Japanese fault!

Innocent people in Japan suffered too!Blame he evil people! I love Japan as well as my country so you can't call me a traitor!

  • You are lame! cant think of anything else to say...lame

  • koorihi, of course it was japanese fault, they invaded and bombed singapore, killing many malayans ,plus after they took over they were as cruel to the local people , as to the allied soldiers

  • But they didn't do it willingly did they? WHo would want war?Blame it on the emperor or wadever

  • course they did it willingly , who made japan travel thousands of miles to bomb singapore ,no one twisted their arms to do it,the japanese military government wanted war ,

  • Were you there at that time?

I highly doubt it, so don't pass of your own ideas.

Besidess..the war is like long over and Japanese STILL rule in my department.

  • Were you there at that time?

I highly doubt it, so don't pass of your own ideas.

Besidess..the war is like long over and Japanese STILL rule in my department.

  • >.>;

Hey, if you're going to think like this forever, you'd never have peace.

Put the past behind you and look to the present. Whatever come in the future will be in the future. Just cherish what you have now.

Don't go blaming the present Japanese just because of this. Forgive and forget, yeah?

  • This is one of the most shameful events, in my Countries History. It hurts to remember.

  • i wouldnt say it was shameful, the shame was that britain didnt send the proper supplies to singapore for defence, britain needed them for the defence of the UK,its ok in hindsight to critisise.the british underestimated the japs, they thought the jungle was impregnable for tanks etc

  • the japs had tanks ,we had none, the british had few obsolete planes, the japs had control of the air,the 2 capital ships prince of wales and repulse ,had no carriers for air cover, the big guns pointed out to sea and not inland,if we had enough planes eg spitfires, some bombers, tanks and better defences it would of been a different outcome, the shame was on perscival and the high command not the troops

  • I can understand the british need the supply for defence in UK. Actually The British army had its main ammunition and supply depots, military hospital and other key installations located in the Alexandra area at Bukit Chandu. So the Malay soldier let by Lt Adnan fought the japanese until the end to defence the hill for the japanese troops but too bad they were out numbered and ran out of weapons and they had to fight by using bayonets.

  • i'm australian, and still here amongst ex diggers theres a sense of betrayl toward the brits, esepcially since that pommy author realesed that book saying we were afraid to fight the japs.. i think a lot of aussies would have rather fixed bayonets and gave it there best instead of been taken prisoner..i know a few went bush but were never seen again..

  • what betrayal, the whole thing was a cock up,what author was that, was he there ,plenty of brits were taken prisoner to,im sure that if they had known what was in store for them they all would of fought to the death, the japs were almost out of ammo anyway and would have had to withdraw if the allies would have fought a bit longer

  • max hastings was the author of a book about the new guinea campaign, labelling australians afraid of the enemy

  • The japanese when they took our men prisoner treated them terribly, and i think it was mainly the manor in how we gave up singapore so easily.

  • redsfc thanks for video. Unfortunetely the fall of singapore i blame on the British high command. They behaved dishournably and wretchedly. Even the japanese were relieved that we threw the towel in so easily. The japanese came over mountains and only had light weapons, and only enough provision as each man could carry. The British could of repositioned themselves and faced them in no time at all, but we threw the towel in. To this day i have not understood this behaviour.

  • thanks for the video. wonderful & brief.

    cheers
