The Governor or Louisiana told Bush to give him a few weeks then he would let the federal government intervene. A few weeks? Right after a natural disaster the Governor wanted a few weeks. The problems in New Orleans were not Bush's fault. He ended up declaring marshal law anyway and if he hadn't things would have been a lot worse. Bush was a good President.
@britethorn -I was there- People were looting like animals- and not taking things needed to survive such as food, but instead TV sets, money, DVD players, video games- I walked into a wal-mart among other stores that had been picked DRY. @britethorn You know in order for the President to intervene without the Governors consent he would have to declare marshal law. The Governor or Louisiana told Bush to give him a few weeks then he would let the federal government intervene. A few weeks? Right after a natural disaster the Governor wanted a few weeks. The problems in New Orleans were not Bush's fault. He ended up declaring marshal law anyway and if he hadn't things would have been a lot worse. Bush was a good President.

@britethorn -I was there- People were looting like animals- and not taking things needed to survive such as food, but instead TV sets, money, DVD players, video games- I walked into a wal-mart among other stores that had been picked DRY. I mean COMPLETELY EMPTY. There were National Guard all over within hours handing out food, and giving people credit cards to buy food. They had emergency support centers set up- the taxpayers forked out Billions in relief- what else do you want?

Aside from the fact that whole premise was hazy, it wasn't run properly and that's the main reason so many Americans died. They did ridiculous things like disband the Iraqi army and leave all those thousands of highly trained soldiers hungry, unemployed, and looking for a way to eat. This is the main reason the place descended into sectarian violence and crime, because of this insane policy decision.
