Your chinchillas seem to be fine with human contact, at first i thought that was just the chinchillas you had owned for a long time but if you've adopted a new chinchilla and he seems to be fine with it as well, there must be more to this. We have two male chins and we've had for a year now, and they were 5 months old when we bought them. Both detest being held, one of them would hurt himself if we held him too long tho unfortunately sometimes we have no choice.

@ThatSillyMosher Quality Cage Company has a lot of good options (I have the 2-door Chinchilla Mansion) :) They're expensive, but very sturdy and easy to clean. I would just recommend getting some large hammocks to string between the shelf levels to soften falls while the chinchis are getting used to the cage, and if there are babies.
