Considering the history of the band it makes brilliant sense. The boys didn't own their own instruments before they released the Sigh No More album, so they had to borrow from other people until they got known and actually made money off their art. Further, it relates directly to the "Allegory of the Cave" by Plato that inspired the song... Brilliant work!

They play all their own instruments and make GREAT music. Yeah there was a lot of great stuff in the 80s... but come on. There is no way that anyone who actually appreciates music could dislike this.

I think its symbolism of the British Empire when they ruled over India influencing their culture. By saying this is yours they are saying that the country always belonged to its people.
