Hi man i have a question for you that is a problem to me.. :if someone in your guard is holding his arms inside to your stomach/chest and keeps his upperbody good low what is the best then that you do because i tried a few sweeps but it didn't work as the guy is heavier and stronger/taller.
Pretty good sequence but a poor demonstration of the elevator sweep. You should never grab your ankle and pull it back to get your hook under the leg, nor should you have to. You don't need to be flexible either. A little hip movement to the side and you'll easily be able to rotate your leg and foot in position without ever losing control of the head.
@nate787 100% completely agree... We shot a lot of these old videos in the early hours of the morning while filming all nighters to try to get them complete. The original project was supposed to be for a very small group of people. We had no idea it would turn into everything it has. That's why a lot of the original videos had poorer attention to detail and minimal editing.
As for the elevator sweep- we have refilmed it correctly here: v=dBlrF04Dx1Q
@sharkfinnigan Thank you sir! I hope you're already a registered member of our site, but if not- please check it out. It's completely free and registration only takes a few seconds!
exactly what I was looking for and muchh more, I love this, thank you so much for the help I cant wait to try this myself, I'm sure this will work. thanks again
a few questions... are you pushing with your shin into the chest for the scissor sweep?
also do you wait til they post back before applying these sweeps? The guy in this demo's base seems high, so if the opponent stayed low, would you go for the kimura from guard?
@yomegabrain Exactly! With the scissor you have to bring your opponents head toward your head so he doesn't sit in base. If his base is too low and posture is too high then you can either go for kimura sweep or start to break his posture down again.
I am a Gi grappler, however, I love your videos because I can use them alongside the gi. Your no-gi videos compliment the Gi, because, gi, no gi, or naked, it comes down to controlling the body parts, and not just gripping lose articles of clothing. Just so happens, using no-gi grips on a gi make it that much more difficult for your opponent.
So the Mayflower is the optimal sweep for an opponent who has a wide base?
Also, I usually defend the Mayflower by sprawling my leg backwards when I feel their hand begin to hook around it. Is that a good idea, or am I leaving myself vulnerable to something else?
this stuff is great, i appreciate it!!! but do u think this will work on a 195 pound man when i weigh 120, i have brute strength but the difference makes me worry
where is your gym at? I am from Missouri and the closest thing to me in Radrigo Vaghi in St. Louis. I am wanting to visit a gym and spend a whole week brushing up with some one well versed but I do MMA and my gym and Vaghi are like Karate Kid and the Tiger Dojo. ;-)
But i wanted to ask man, that if it's possible to give the same type sweep combinations from the bottom mount- and bottom side position?????
And if it's not asked to much, can you give some very good submission combinations, just like this attack them counters!!!!Thank you very much and keep doing what you doing.... .Gr,
Oh it's very possible. Check out the site. We have over 7 hours of videos that are free to watch there, and we have more chains of sweeps, escapes, and submissions than you could possibly ask for!
Thanks for your input. The new video set is much closer and all of our videos are showed from multiple angles. Thanks again, and we look forward to having you at the site.

Like it. i reckon I would mess up the elevator sweep and give away my guard. I always use the scissor sweep though, might go for knee push after that

Obviously size is an issue- but if the techniques are done correctly, they will work.
TechniquePrevails 2 years ago
it's all leverage dude. it would work on a 220 man if you can time and position yourself correctly.

Unfortunately, I am in Georgia. I think that'd be a little too far to commute for training. Good luck with finding something!
TechniquePrevails 3 years ago
Where in Georgia are you located? whats the name called? because I'm looking for a place around the Roswell/Alpharetta area to do MMA
MutenKami 2 years ago
Near that area there are some great gyms. Check out Ascension MMA.
TechniquePrevails 2 years ago
@MutenKami There is also Alliance BJJ, Knuckle Up, and a lot of other great schools. Alpharetta is FULL of excellent places to train.
