  • camille...

  • for cardio crossfit is great, but there form is terrible! This type of workout has been around for thousand of years, spartan training was pretty much what crossfit is, massive cardio with weight training as one. can get the same kind of workout pushing ur car

  • I did my first Fran workout yesterday. 6:55 at 65lbs, not 95. still hard tho :)

  • music?

  • I have a lot of respect for crossfit, but I'll always think those kipping pull ups look a little silly

  • Theres no doubt they look stupid doing those pullups theres also no doubt they look like their in awesome shape and perform like it too. I think people just hate on it because a few guys said oh those crossfitters dont use the equipment right they dont know what their doing...then the rest just repeat...I was one of those. But theres no denying these ppl are straight athletes..id like to give it a try but all the gyms round here are so damn expensive!!!!! WTF.

  • I don't like cross fit but I love how it involves the Olympic lifts and seemingly increases their popularity like before

  • I have done sports all my life, amature boxing, college football, college track and USMC infantry for 4 yrs. So I was totally against crossfit plus hated that people kipped. I finnaly cracked and joined I was wrong love it. Its a great work out both cardio strength. The style is different people are just want it there way. I see big 400 pound bench pressers come in and die and hate it. Face it you either like it or hate it, Its like the argument like boxing vs mma.

  • just asking here...can't you just do half the amount of reps for each set with just proper form while keeping the same speed? wouldn't that workout be just as hard and stop people from complaining because I do agree using momentum looks sloppy and are for beginners who don't have the strength to do any moves with proper form.

  • so if not getting your chin over the bar counts as a rep.. what would count as a no rep?

  • I've done the FRAN but with out kipping or swinging pull ups. I found it extremely challenging. I'd never trained to do a thruster before nor did I do a 21 15 9 sequence prior. My best time was 7min. I've only done the work out twice. I find cross fit good but not the be all end all of of work out systems. I don't subscribe to any one system but all systems. I like the work outs but I dislike the CULT and arrogance that comes with Crossfit. Crossfit didnt invent working out.

  • Even with the kipping, they barely ever get their chin over the bar.

  • I love crossfit, I have only recently found it but now that I have I intend to keep at it! The only thing that I don't like is that for some people it encourages bad form due to the time component. Technique and correct form are just as important if not even more so than getting a personal best time but having sloppy form.

  • Show good form GodDamnit.

  • damn camille is hot

  • I agree that this workout is very hard. But what's the point of showing off your skills if you can't do it right. I could do 100 pushups but my form would be terrable, that's why I don't have a video of me doing it. I do promote crossfit but I also promote good form.

  • I don't get it.......is that not really bad chin up form.....the swinging and stuff....I dont know it looks wrong

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

    NOOOOO MORE RETARDED SWINGING CHINUPS!!!!

You know what, the difficulty and the benefits of crossfit are evident. It requires heart and provides hard bodies. But something to consider is that the competitive aspect just isn't pure. When you can pervert the true form of a proper exercise movement so much by swinging, kipping, thrusting, etc., just to say that you did more, we must raise ethical questions. Let's improve rules to demand proper form.

  • @nnnbbbmmm79

The rules are the same for everybody in the competition. What ethical questions are being raised by a bunch of people getting together under the same rules to compete to do something the most times or the fastest. I think that is what people refer to as sports. Their not claiming that this is the way that everyone should do their pull-ups. And if you have worked out in CF boxes you know that you have days that have dead hand pull ups and all sorts of "non kipping" exercises

  • The pull-ups are ridiculous.I know they're kipping pull-ups but, why not a "real" pull-up? Overall the work-out looks tough.

  • I hate these pull-ups...

  • thats funny that he says they are the best athletes cause they're all white

  • I'm a crossfitter and I think it is a great program. However, those pullups were terrible. I mean not even close to the bar. It was a half pull up at best.

  • i was thinking of giving crossfit a try because i already do circuit training any way but i looked up the price for one of the closest gyms and i cant swing that money especially how i am also going to be training at a mma gym so about 300 bucks total for gym expenses is crazy.

  • and ive done 2 sessions at a crossfit gym where one of my friends encouraged me to join him..was it tough? yes but i find squatting 500 pounds alot more challenging physically as well as mentally

  • arnold...why would you allow crossfit at your expo...strongmen,bodybuilding,powerlifting sports for men!...crossfit=enuff said

  • Are those supposed to be pull-ups? Lol. Train like normal people instead of kidding yourself with this shit. And if you keep at it: enjoy your damaged joints in a few years. And are those rubber plates? Hahaha.

  • @WatchmanIndelicato What's wrong with rubber plates? A 45LB rubber plate equals that of a 45LB steel plate.. Difference being you can drop one of them with out causing as much damage.. I wonder if you can guess which one it is..?

  • well this is crossfit..sure they dont have good form (and yes i think classic pullups are better) but i think they're in good shape so..

and just to know:chinups=palms facing you..

  • LOVE IT. Only prob is my kips aren't THAT good (comparing to them) so I just do full-dead hang pull-ups. I usually get around 8-10 before I drop (217.4 lbs). Looks like I'm gonna have to try "Fran" now. I did the sets and thrusters, except with ring push-ups instead of pull-ups. *People out there hating on this b/c they're not benching 400+lbs squatting 700+ lbs and all that bull shit. TRUST ME....you would not survive the first 5-6 minutes with a 5 rounder/AMRAP for 20 minutes.

  • what the fuck? :D pull-ups is like a freak clown faggot move...

  • females that do crossfit got some NICE legs!!!

  • All you guys commenting need to shut the fuck up

  • That's what I do at the gym too, when someone says my forms wrong I just give it another name so it's technically right

  • People theyre not doing chin ups. Theyre doing butterflys, completely different exercise. Learn your shit

  • C'mon pink shorts get you chin over the bar!!!!

  • Crossfit is an easy target when the haters sit on their fat asses in front of their computers complaining and doing jack shit about their own lives. I fucking dare you to try crossfit, you'll be whining like little bitches when Fight Gone Bad kicks you in the fucking teeth.

  • @Damien333 I hope you put as much passion into your workouts as you do into posting. Class act.

  • @Damien333 let em hate. all you're doing by complaining is making their jelly rolls jiggle with laughter.

  • @Damien333 I've done Crossfit. I've done Fight Gone Bad, Diane, Fran, Smoking Gun, etc.... Most people who are checking out Crossfit on YouTube are probably not fat. Keep that crappy form up, you'll get hurt eventually.

  • @Damien333 Faf I'm 5'7 170 6% BF and Look better then most CF Phaggots....you mad??? BRB you gunna defend those pullups? You do know 10 regular pullups are better then 25 shitty ones...Both for muscle and strength as well as cardio!!!!

  • @Damien333 So, so true.

  • the dude's watch is ridiculous.

  • Comment removed

  • They are not PULL UPS they are KIP UPS..

  • I agree, why would crossfit be promoting such horrible form with the pullup portion of this competition?

  • First time doing Fran last week...7:40 but I also did dead hang pull ups, those pull ups were absolutely bogus. It is this crap that gives Crossfit detractors their ammunition. Yes I realize these are Butterfly pull-ups but they are used purely for # of reps counted. The purpose of them is to minimize effort and maximize speed. You Tube competition videos and you will see that they are normally preformed from a dead hang position.

  • @MrGlockhart Also, check out this reference from the WPFG- "Toughest Competitor Alive" event.

"All pull ups are started from a still (dead) hang position with elbows locked out to full extension. An ‘anti kipping/swinging’ device shall placed 6 inches (6”) in front of the of the competitor to prevent any ‘kipping’, ‘jerking’ or ‘back swinging’ motion."

  • dont knock it till you've tried it

  • wtf is this shit hahahahahaha

  • bunch of retards, this looks so fucking stupid

  • i thought he said they had to do pullups?

  • try to complete this workout with dead hang pull ups.. probably wont happen

  • and not a single pull up was done that day

  • 4:26 Crossfit.gif

    LMAO

  • Not a single real pullup was done that day...

  • @mixituprawr why dont you qualify for the games and show us how its done

  • @mixituprawr your a fucking pussy....you couldnt do half the shit that crossfiters do...I have done all the traditional lifts back from football in highschool...It's the easy, pussy way to workout....train the way your gonna work.....hard and efficient!

  • LMAO Those are the worse pullups I have ever seen.

  • @crossfitisnotbadlol counted the reps probably

  • i've done this before the pull ups are a killer. pretty sure I completed it in 5 minutes

  • The girl with the pink shorts is hot. I don't like those pull ups at all

  • @OfficialBarstarzz Camille Bazinet. mmm-mm!

  • pull up standard was "forehead to bar" apparently

  • wat the hell kinda pullups are those?

  • @pspman2007 Kipping pull-ups

  • tearing apart the shoulders and elbows to prove how fast you can do a chin up is a terrible idea. this stuff is awful.

  • @piercey1060 ...Maybe if you actually did functional movements and not your gay fucking slow lifts with rest in between everyday this wouldnt look so painful you dumb fuck....I did that traditional shit for football and I feel a million times better now doing crossfit workouts....Not to mention i could toss my former self around now...take your head out of your ass

  • @piercey1060 i 'am doing crossfit about six months..my back and myshoulders are in the best condition..i never injured them and i do buterlfy kipping pull-ups. by the way i hav about 100kg bodyweight...you don't tear apart nothing...

  • Dumbest thing I have seen in a while...

  • As a long time CrossFitter I agree....this is a terrible video to use as an example and I'm sad this was held on such a high stage. Some of the best out there showed us what CrossFit ISN'T suppose to do, sacrifice the movemetns integrity. But to say these people didn't get a workout, FALSE. Miranda is a great example of how it should be done. Not the fastest time but every rep was perfect.

  • lol gayfit

  • @Duffman89detmig synes du at ultimate fighters er gay?

jeg kan forsikrer dig for at det er sådan en form for træning de kører når de styrketræner:)

  • WTF WTF WTF!!!!! 3:30 ????

  • nice pullups......not

  • i am all about CrossFit, but this video is crap.

  • and not a single rep was properly performed that day

  • @watgoatse bitch do the workout and then tell me about your ''properfly performed reps''

  • @alex4011 the workout doesn't mean a damn thing. maintaining form during weightlifting is far more important than some workout with a name.

  • @watgoatse the point of the workout is to get a stimulus to challenge your strength and cardiorespiratory endurance. your body doesnt care about bad form unless youre harming it. to say not a single rep was performed is fucking retarded

  • @watgoatse I love clueless peope

  • @watgoatse Obvious you're not familiar with crossfit, an extremely popular sport for military, police, firemen, and health nuts. It's based on form, speed, repetition (not beauty). These are not your grand father's chin ups, and the rule is to go from extended arms to chin above the bar as fast as possible. The fluid waving motion you see is the fastest way to do it, and believe me, with all the reps and in this combination, you will get worked out -- which is the purpose...

  • @watgoatse Crossfit is a true athlete, nor being good at one thing but good at all, training explosive strong, fast muscles, mobility that comes with it, cardio/conditioning and muscular conditioning of course ontop of that. you have no idea do you? Your one of the retards that think these are chinups.

  • @Etrajbe Aside from being rude, you have also shown one of the biggest issues people have with Crossfit (not I, specifically). The "athletes" which actually denote a very small portion of crossfitters who have been well documented in may blogs, articles and studies are the .01% of those actually participating. Crossfit has simply turned into another version of at home workouts (ie.P90X), or group bootcamp at the local box.

  • @Etrajbe My intention is not to discount the results. I think for the average gym-goer, their experiences/results in group led workouts have shown to be nothing but positive. But this formula has been around for hundreds of years (no matter what Lord Glassman would have you believe) Crossfit needs to be considered a sport before you consider the .01% "Athletes" and then you have to successfully argue the best description of these "athletes"....Jack of all trades, masters of none?

  • @Etrajbe True athlete? Hardly... Boxers are true athletes, olympic lifters are true athletes, wrestlers are true athletes, etc... Crossfitters? They are not athletes

  • @valgez1 you're a fucking moron. Boxers? Nothing against boxing, but being a boxer most certainly does NOT make you a "true athlete". Clearly, you have no idea what you're talking about, or looking at.

  • @bloodiaper Yeah, I see what you mean... Being a bunch of weekend CF warriors doing countless "Frans", putting their videos on Youtube showing off their sweat, all that - to some "Gayish" music, - those are the things that make a true Athlete, I see... Thank you for explaining that :-)

  • @Etrajbe an athlete is someone who regularly participates in sport or athletics, being mediocre at all the components of fitness makes u a crossfitter not an athlete.

  • @anhisking I have to agree with you. I am a big proponent and fan of crossfit, but being an athlete requires that you develop a skillset and a type of athleticism that not everyone has. Not anyone can be proficient at basketball, I've tried and I will always sick at it. But if you work hard enough, anyone can be proficient at Crossfit workouts. It's not the same as being an athlete!

  • I am embarrassed that these people actually thought they were working out.

  • this video shows that crossfit competitions, or in this case the competitive atmosphere, are less about the workout, and more about what you can get away with from your judge. Camille/Everett, case in point.... I was sitting here going "No Rep, No Rep, No Rep, No Rep, No Rep, 1, No Rep, No Rep, No Rep, 2, No Rep, No Rep, .........."

  • All of the guys need to keep their elbows up on the thrusters.

  • i hope these guys don't take any PEDs or something . . .

  • cipping is so crap. why don't WOD's have stricked chins more. no wonder CF has so many shoulder injuries. Jack of all trades master of none.

  • @007bootcamp

I have never had a shoulder injury, in fact my back feels better than it ever has. The reason there would be shoulder injuries is because of people coming in thinking they are king dick, and loading up on weight, fucking them self up. Leave your ego at the door.

  • cipping is so crap. why don't WOD's have stricked chins more. no wonder CF has so many shoulder injuries.

  • saying it once only crossfit is abt functional fitness we dont train to run the fastest marathon or the fastest 100m or bench or deadlift the most everything we do relates to everything everyone does in day today life so dont knock till youv tried it plus its not like crossfit invented bad form now is it

  • @bbylisa1

doing oly lifts for time encourages bad form. thats a bad idea generally. to be good at day to day life, all you have to do for day to day life is what you do. i dont get that idea from crossfit. under that notion you only need crossfit for day to day life cause you do crossfit everyday. at anyrate, as long as your having fun and you dont get hurt.

also the judges here seem lenient and competitors trying to get away with less than a lockout. meh, it is what it is i guess

  • @Jbruggs. From the Dest of Crossfit top brass bring any NFL any body They would do well but they would not crush it.

  • That's the worst "chin-ups" i have seen. Ever.

  • @Ehloz I don't know what they hell you would call those, personally I would call them a damn good way to injure yourself.

  • @Ehloz They are "kip ups" buddy

  • @MykeHoe1 From Crossfits own site.... "Fran"

Three rounds, 21-15- and 9 reps, for time of:

95-pound Thruster,Pull-ups I might be mistaken, but you say these are Kip-Ups (what I described as Butterfly Pullups).

So are these Crossfit Athletes not doing "Fran" properly? It asks for Pullups, not Kip Ups.

  • @MrGlockhart Due to Crossfit being vary vague to begin with, they also say that numerous forms of getting your chin over the bar are accepted. This includes Chinups, which are also NOT pullups and use a group of entirely different muscles which is why it is also a completely different exercise.

  • @Ehloz well their arms go from fully extended, to their chin being above the bar, therefore making it a chin-up, just a more efficient and quick way of doing them as they're against the clock

  • @Ehloz Rofl, how about you learn something before you talk?`its not a chinup

  • @Ehloz Its called a butter fly pull up.

  • @Ehloz Learn your shit b4 you make stupid comments , they are doing kipping and butterfly pull ups

  • the weight doesn't seem like much? I eat 95 lbs of protein daily... you're right: it doesn't seem like much b/c it isn't.

  • rofl "best athletes in the world" jesus christ what an arbitrary thing to say. p.s. comments like that = why everyone hates crossfit.

  • @megacaremad have you ever done "fran". or even crossfit for that matter?

  • @Jbruggs Yes, and I have done much harder work that it too. If any serious athlete, like, let's say an NFL caliber Safety took crossfit seriously they would destroy every single event.

The top-brass crossfit athletes are ex-other athletes who couldn't hack it in their original discipline. So, because of immense vanity and the desire to "BE THE BEST!!!!" they all pile onto crossfit. It's a terrible mentality and part of the reason the sport will not be taken seriously.

  • Also lol if your definition of being the best is lifting light weights and doing kipping pullups for speed.

  • @megacaremad You didn't really answer the question... But I will put this out there. he very damn well may be the best, or one of the best, athletes in the world. He just won the 2011crossfit games. Now that does include other countries, not just the USA, that are present at the games. They do not just lift weights and kipping pullups. The WOD's consist of everything, even a little swimming. Rowing, running, biking, gymnast rings, lifing, and bodyweight exercises. And he excells at all.

  • 3:29 I bet the crowd was so tuned off when they saw this first set

  • youtube / 4HBQRYO105g - these are pull ups...

  • @solidacro put this man to do Grace with 60 kg load in les than 15 minutes....he won't.

  • why is everyone bitching about peoples form? as if half of the people complaining on her have any form at all apart from fatass

  • @HeavymetalTHUNDER16 I have form.. so I'll complain! Beefcakes on the 'thruster' but the pull ups were pointless... why would you even call that a pull up? I'm not an exercise nut, but I know plenty about how the body moves. Check my vids if you have something to say...

  • Comment removed

  • @solidacro what did anything you say have to do with what i said, also i checked your vids, was it meant to be intimidating that little "Check my vids if you have something to say..."

  • @HeavymetalTHUNDER16 no, was not ment to be intimidating at all. from your comment, "as if half of the people complaining on her(e) have any form at all" I should refer you to my expertise. I spend everyday working on techniques to do with the body so when I see people using their body to do strength moves but 'cheating' it (like the pull ups here) it seems sorta useless to me.

These guys are obviously strong enough to do them correctly, so why do them in such a bad way for your muscles?

  • @solidacro Do you honestly believe that BW pull ups are a strength move?

  • @FTWSquat bw pull ups?

  • @solidacro bodyweight pull ups

  • @solidacro They are not cheating. They are intentionally performing one of the many variations of the pull up, often referred to as the kip, or in this case the butterfly kip. You are right about one thing: these athletes are more than capable of performing straight pull ups. However, this specific work out, "Fran," calls for the kipping pull up.

  • @zsoneal21 Thanks. That's the first real answer I've had for this :)

  • Its too bad they had shitty reps. Lock that shit out! These are "elite" crossfitters? Wtf!

  • I love crossfit. I wish they would do some younger teen crossfit games.

  • While you will occasionally see someone's form falter while working at a pace like this, theres a few things to consider when judging if its really affecting the workout. Does the worsening form put the individual at risk of injury? Does it make the exercise drastically easier than intended for the individual? There are times when worse form still won't cause either of these things to happen, and in times like this it can be okay to sacrifice a small amount of form in favour of intensity.

  • @Swarren7630 Fair question, and the reason is because Fran is meant to be fast and intense. There are hundreds of different crossfit workouts, and they fall in several different metabolic pathways. There are already plenty of workouts that use heavy weight, and they feel completely different. Also, fran has far too many reps to be done with heavy weight, you wouldn't be able to maintain the intended pace

  • NICE AUSTIN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Everett and Camille both had about 10 bad reps....neither of them locked their arms out at the top in the first round

  • @jw011683 Everett called me out in my cert for my thrusters. So I called him out on my Facebook page after I posted this video. He still is an amazing athlete, but I am glad someone else payed attention at the video like it did,

  • @jw011683 and what about all the chin-ups? camille's were especially poor, and i woulda thought that as a former gymnast hers would be perfect! i didn't see her get her chin over the bar even once.

  • @vitallica0805 Agreed!

  • @jw011683 Everett cant lockout his elbows... That is as far as he can extend his arm.

  • @jw011683 Their pullups sucked too!

  • the rom on the chick with the pink shorts on thrusters does not seem anywhere close to full

  • @renelope09 I am with you on that!

  • @swarren7360 I would pay money to see you do fran with thrusters @225

  • The first chick in the beginning is hella fine

  • @Swarren7630 to try and get the lowest time possible and its #95 not #135.
