@jillchng As said in the Silent Hill Wikipedia, the ending is called "Mother" and it says:

"We then see Henry's apartment as it was at the beginning of the game, covered in blood and rust, implying that the spirits still haunt Room 302 and that Eileen may still be possessed. To obtain it, the player must keep Eileen from getting hurt, but not clear 80% of Henry's apartment of hauntings."

So basically, don't let Eileen get hurt and don't put too many candles in the flat.

The ending doesn't make sense to me. You'd figure that if he had succeeded with the 21 Sacraments that something beyond simply being in the apartment would have happened; when Alessa was tortured, she became the host for a god that would wipe out all of humanities current moral standings and follow it up by constructing "paradise" A.K.A. R'lyeh. But when Walter horrifically murders 21 people, he just stands against the wall catatonic, as if he hung and killed himself from the wall's piping.

Wait I've got it; Walter, like his victims, is a ghost & he, indeed, committed suicide in prison & after the events of SH2 Walter came back to complete the 21 Sacraments & the reason why he's motionless against the wall at the end is because his ghost operates just in the same way Pyramid Head does; once his purpose has been served he ceases to function and breaks down.

Now that his ghost has served it's purpose, it's motionless against the wall because it's thematic with how he killed himself.

I've just won this game a few seconds ago, and altough u ppl say it's shit, i think it's the better history on the Silent Hill saga (after the first, obviously). SH2 is good, SH3 JUST SUCKS, never feel fear or a strange feeling... but imo i think that the priority order is:

Sh 1

Sh 4

Sh 2

Sh Homecoming

Sh 3

I haven't played any other sh so i can't talk about shattered memories and others

everyone says that silent hill games 1-4 were the best ones, but i was really dissapointed with this one. the main character was a bore and the monsters didnt exactly blend in with their environment. plus, the combat was alot more awkward than the other games.

silent hill 3 was amazing though. best game ive ever played.

@TheProDoughnut If I have understood it right, Henry wasn't in Silent Hill, but in Walter's otherworld. Silent Hill is a place where Alessa's world is, and the house where Henry lives is where Walter has created his own world and where he lives and murders after killing himself in prison.

That's total not okay. If you didn't clear all the haunting she say it's okay to go back and the camera shows a ruined apartment. If you clear the hauntings she says you have to find a new place to live. How's that!?
