I too have been a heavy gambler at one point I manged to get myself into 70k worth of debt !! bank loans , credit cards and even lost my business !! i HAD TO GO BANKRUPT !! I am still living with the debts my wife ran up through my bankruptcy and this is 7 years later !!! I still get the urge to gamble but nowadays I control this bastard urge to throw my money away .. All I can say is i will live with the destruction that gambling has done to my life till the day I die.. all the best my friend

why should I allow this mental disease to have control over my brain? Ive been gambling for 8 yrs myself and I just hit the lowest point when i used money that didnt belong to me and then was powerless to replace it. Its amazing how easy our mind can be manipulated by OURSELVES. I think we got ourselves into this mess and WE have to want to stop ourselves. gambling is a disease its hard to stop ive been gambling for 3 years iv not got a thing to show for it i win a £150 then lose it all it really hurts when i lose £50+ it makes you want to play more to get it back but then you end up losin everything lost £100 today, got no money for food. Jus when i started wining again after my £600 loss in december i lose wot i won and all my money ive lost thousands. iv got nothing of value except my laptop coz everything i had i sold to gamble.

you probably won't see or read this, but i feel your pain man. i don't know how much you have won or lost, but i am a extremely compulsive gambler and it really really just makes life miserable. everything stacked against you, nothing you do is right nothign you do can make you win, yet u throw money in like the next hand or horse will be different. then you (I) sit there cursing bad luck and misfortune, when in reality we put ourselves in that position. hope you and i can both be smarter

HOPE U R WELL even if u relapse u can stop again or cut right down. keep pushing it away the urge becomes less when u get out of the habit .every day u walk away proves u can do it 4 another day .learn to spot the danger signals or negative emotions and choose to keep away at those times too.

really good video. Very truthful and sincere. I really hope that GaddictMatt got the help he felt he needed and is now ok in life. Gambling is very dangerous. My feeling is that if you are an addict, abstinence is not always the solution (unlike alcohol and drug abuse). Sometimes, dealing with your addiction by cutting down your stakes or limiting your bets to 2-3 times a week can be effective.

Best of luck to you on your recovery. I too am a compulsive gambler and will be attending GA meetings too.

I've been to them before and gave up but I have been told that if you keep coming back to the meetings, it will work.

I pray this is true.

Thanks for the message and good luck. GA Meetings do tend to help most people but remember they are not for everyone so if you feel they do not work for you than try other forms of help.

I haven`t gambled for 5 weeks now, I would be talking bull if I said it was easy but I don`t want the shit that comes from my gambling.

Hello Matt, My name is mike i just got fired from my job. I recieve my 401k check for $3000.I just blew it on a football game. I was winning my running back fumbled 4 minutes left in game and i lost. I lost thousands of dollars, like every other compulsive gambler. I am crush for about 24 hours and im ready to go again. Good luck mate, your right it isn`t about the money, the buzz you get win you win big can`t be beaten. So far my determination to quit is going quite well, I still think about it sometimes but as the saying goes you have to take one day at a time.
