Nick's worn eyeliner for years (he's so pale you probably wouldn't see his eyes onstage if he didn't). I think there's a problem with thinking there was an "opportunity" that presented itself for success. The reason they had mild success (VERY mild. Reality is most people have never heard of them in the mainstream) on this album is the culmination of relentless touring and a strong fanbase. The RISK they took was in stretching themselves musically and potentially turning out an album that they loved but NO ONE but diehard fans would buy. Most of the album is NOT mainstream friendly AT ALL.

He's planning a "solo" honky-tonk album (with Tiger Army playing on it) and a new Tiger Army album (he wasn't sure which he'd do first)... and yeah, it's going to take time to do those before they tour again. :( Sorry you missed them in Arizona. I just photo'd their OCtoberflame shows in Anaheim and OH WOW it was awesome (will have some videos up soon)

Oh no you see I like early Tiger Army. The early years LP was impressive, certainly no Meteors or Mad Sin but good use of an upright and the speed was good. Now it's pop with an upright mixed VERY low. I'm going to see them the 23rd because I heard they play alot of their old songs and thats what I want to hear. Nick was never in AFI... the original (and current) bassist for TA, Geoff Kresge, was in AFI and wrote the music for the first few albums (why the sound changed after he left AFI/after Jade joined and started writing the music)

Doesn't matter, I've still been listening to them for a rather long time so of all people I would know if the sound has made a drastic change. On loveline Nick 13 threw a hissy fit because someone told him that A) He's trying to be Mike Ness and another caller told him B) why is the upright mixed so low. In which he threw a hissy fit and said you "just have to listen harder!" It seems I'm the only one with my own opinion about psychobilly. You never answered me. Are you edge?

Which is like me saying that I've been listening to them longer than you, so therefore I of all people would know better than you that their sound hasn't made a drastic change... although this song and the production on the current album gave the music a much smoother feel than it actually has when performed live (they kick the shit out of this song live). But I wouldn't say that because I don't have a compulsion to try to make myself out to be better than everyone here to justify my opinion.

Oh no you see I like early Tiger Army. The early years LP was impressive, certainly no Meteors or Mad Sin but good use of an upright and the speed was good. Now it's pop with an upright mixed VERY low. I'm going to see them the 23rd because I heard they play alot of their old songs and thats what I want to hear. Once again silly new school Wannabilly fans wishing they could hang in my league when it comes to insults. Pick up a book on wit and satire and come back to me (perhaps read Wylde)

I'm not a pro in this genre of music, but I feel like you are right. This sounds a lot like a pop song. It's still a catchy song that I would let my girlfriend play on a road trip, but I don't feel like it is true to its portrayed genre!

ive been into and around punk and psychobilly since i was a kid and id have to say you have no idea what you are talking about. there is a difference between selling out and bringing a certain genre into the mainstream in an otherwise pop-ruled culture. sure tiger army changed their sound but they also are responsible for being one of the few bands that revived psychobilly in the us after rev horton heat. im not a 15 year old little brat and i know a lot who fit that exact opposition.

I remember seeing Tiger Army life about seven years ago, it was pretty damn good but now the scene is full of girls trying to dress rockabilly but just look like silly sluts (Bettie Page was a dumb whore, literally) it's as bad as indie kids claiming Mod. Nick was never in AFI... the original (and current) bassist for TA, Geoff Kresge, was in AFI and wrote the music for the first few albums (why the sound changed after he left AFI/after Jade joined and started writing the music)

No, and I wish the label hadn't made a video of this one first (or that they'd release the one they supposedly filmed for "Pain"). They've always had songs that didn't sound like "classic psychobilly", although this one sounds much moreso when performed live
