The ending was horribly disappointing, it missed the entire purpose of his death and lost the line that wrapped the novel together.

The rest was fantastic. I think if they were to TRULY make an I Am Legend now, without trying to use a ridiculous budget and Hollywood it to death, it would look a lot like this. It needs another 30-40 minutes of flesh (the study, the expirements with the vampires, the discovery, more on the Dog, etc) and for the ending to be true to the novel.

@VA7x7 From the novel, there were two kinds of infected. Strong, living dead like Ben Cortman and the others. Those strong, living vampires had made a pseudo-cure that allowed them to walk in the daylight and returned a lot of their strength to them. The majority if the infected vampires, though, were weak and unintelligent like those shown in the film.

The vampires at the end, who killed Robert, were of the strong sort who had the vaccine and were starting their new society.

with any remake things are changed . just like scarface was a remake the original movie tony was not a cuban . the director puts his spin on telling the story how he sees it in his head. the will smith version is just a remake with a up to date spin on the story. all three are good movies in their own right . i have never watched a movie made from a book where they followed the book to the letter in the movie .

@bandecathey1210 HAVE YOU EVEN READ THE BOOK, the will smith version had almost nothing to do with it, dont get me wrong i love the newer I AM LEGEND FILM but its should of been called something else and both i am omega and this got it closer, keep in mind they didnt have the budget I AM LEGEND had, infact most modern day films dont have a budget that large look it up it was massive. this is a much better film purely because they had less to work with.

People tend to forget this was originally a vampire story. Not zombies, not mutants. A vampire story. That's why the novel was called I am legend, because HE is their legend. A lot of adaptations miss that point.

@therewegomagick The only point I found interesting about The Omega Man was the plague victims becoming book burning, technology hating zealots. At one point one of them goes after Charlton Heston with a gun, which I thought was a good comment on the hypocrisy of religious fanatics. The rest of the movie was shite, sadly :D.
