Haunting and beautiful. Still after all these years. I got it when it came out in 1981 - The vinyl came with a beautiful book, 'Church'. I still own it.
I already heard a "Numan like sound" on the system of romance album by Ultravox in the song slow motion sung by John Foxx.He came up with this sound first then if I'm not mistaken...

the very first album I bought out of my very first paypacket. Still an incredible album and the only one I have from that period that doesn't sound dated.
This song has had so many influences on my subconcious it's untrue...from home decor to my own garden in style and layout, more than I realised. Fantastic.Been a Fan of Johns since 1977 and always will be.
Its hard to say who is the "original" creator of electronic pop music. Another subgenre was the new romantic movement and I would say that John Foxx can be credited with that one. Go back to his Utlravox days and listen to Hiroshima Mon Amour, which was originally written, I believe in 1974 or 75, recorded in 1977 on the 2nd Utlravox album. Their first album was produced by Brian Eno. Its debatable about Foxx being the first, but people like Gary Numan give Foxx credit for popularizing it all.
@neogenius44 Uh huh but his voice is clearly inspired by and totally informed by Bryan Ferry ala early Roxy and hs music is informed by early to mid seventies kraut rock . So he is clearly not original. That being said, i do own and love this album.
@TheFashionbugs Sorry,I disagree,John's vocals are his own and nothing like Ferry's in any form.He is original and has finally been seen as the originator of many good following bands...mine included!
@TheFashionbugs I agree, it's obtuse to deny it. I really like John Foxx, but for instance, as enjoyable as Ultravox' first record is, it is sort of Ultravoxy Music.
Only 4 comments?!?!?! 1,514 views?????? this man needs to be heard. A friend gave me this tape back in 1986. I was blown away then, lost and now found again 24 years later. still blown away. I would love to use it on my next film. purple crayon productions.
