  • The other side of Teddy's love of nature wasn't as bright. After his childhood friend turned him down after he proposed to her, Teddy reportedly went on a long camping trip westward. Apparently during his riding, he went on a bloody rampage and shot nearly every living thing he saw.

  • @OldWorldAmerican It wasn't so much as a bloody rampage as it was a really long hunting trip. He just wanted to get away from people while he mourned the death of his mother and wife (both died on the same day February 14th)

  • TR shot a lot of endangered animals.

  • @spinemelter2000 Is there documented proof of this? Were they endangered then or are these animals that are endangered now.

  • I liked Teddy Roosevelt, and even thought he was a badass, until I read A People's History Of The United States and began to study his military career and political actions and their effects on the territories the US occupied. He was a sociopathic racist scumbag who advocated war and ignored war crimes which were just as horrific as those committed by Nazi Germany or anyother imperialist empire.

  • @PELLOWHEAD Most people in history have a side that by today's standards would be considered evil. Try to put it into the context of the time that he lived. Things were a lot more "wild" back then.

  • i love teddy

  • Well... Theodore Roosevelt also killed loads of elephants and lions while in Africa after his term in office.

  • @thehoaxbuster But were they tied to a tree. The point of the clip isn't that he didn't hunt animals, it's that he wouldn't hunt animals that were tied to trees. I know in today's world a lot of people view hunting as barbaric but back then the attitude toward hunting was a lot different.

  • do you know the things teddy did that made him a republican?

  • No, can you tell me?

  • @Jose143137 Repulican pretty much meant Democrat in the early 1900's

  • @MrTitomeister True.

  • Yea, not much sport shooting a tied up bear whether it's a cub or full grown.

  • Preach it puppet! That's a pretty famous cartoon, in fact the cartoon made the bear incident famous, but it wasn't a cub, it was a large 600-pound bear. Teddy not only said no, he ripped the hunting guide pretty hard for that.

  • thank you this helped me for an extra credit assingment

  • No problem. Glad to be of help.

  • actually, i studied that it was a bear CUB he refused to shoot, leading to the invention of the *drumroll* TEDDY BEAR!! yAY!!

  • Yea, that part of the story has been changed over the years. It was a full grown bear though.

  • That's Awesome!

Definitely put a smile on my face

    great work! keep it up!
