A girlfriend gave me the cassette of this album as a present when it came out, early 1989. It was the first truly great Lou Reed album in a while, although the preceding ones, The Blue Mask, Legendary Hearts, New Sensations & Mistrial, were good, but this was a bit of a masterpiece & relaunched Lou's career big time. But I had never seen this promo clip. Thank you so much for posting this. Great stuff, & you've done a great job. This will be remembered as one of Lou Reed's best songs ever.
Well, taste is taste, and this is a great album, as I said before. I still think that apart from The Velvets, Lou Reed's best stuff was his incredible run from '72 to '76: Transformer, Coney Island Baby, even Rock 'n'Roll Animal (not to mention Metal Machine Music & some songs on Sally Can't Dance, like Kill Your Sons, for instance, or the Nowhere At All single) but certainly Berlin. It must be one of the best pieces of Rock music, or indeed any type of music, ever...
My favourite Lou Reed's Song

Lou Reed is Rock n roll
The American Song: Aretha Franklin, Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Lou and the Velvet. That's all. The rest of them... amateurs

Lou is Bob Dylan with a singing voice. His poetry is on par with Dylan's.

This is my favorite Lou Reed album- not counting the Velvet stuff. So many great songs. "Hold On", "Last Great American Whale", etc. Awesome album.

Give me your hungry, your poor huddle masses, I'll piss on 'em. Doesn't matter if it's Obama or Clinton, it's game over for the USA now.
