1:14 No, it's not. It only does that because it's fwd. It's caused by the differentials' natural urge to equal out the power between both drive wheels. It hardly, if at all, works on rwd vehicles.
Im turning 16 soon...i dont really want to drive cuz i want to move to toronto and most people take subways lol but im sort of nervous to take it :$ lol ive never drove a car befor omg
@BoerVis Well, compared to Norway that's nothing. An average license costs about 4.500 euro's. And same thing about the driving, one little fault and you have failed.
The title kind of says it all about American driving tests though. They can't even make turns, and still pass.
@swifel1k If you are looking for free driving test prep questions, check out DrivingTests101[dot]com. It's available on 8 countries and growing fast! Cheers
My god you'd fail for that in the England (letting the steering wheel go like that to straighten up) now I know why a uk driving licence is accepted everywhere in the world and no retest needed after a year as we would make a foreign driver coming into this country take a test after one year, (also the states make foreigners retake a test after one year, excluding British of course)
Does it matter if I use the hand over hand method when i take my driving test? My parents tell me they will take off points for that but i want to make sure.
No one gives a fuck about this turning shit when they're out driving in real life, but god forbid if you don't turn like this on the test you get fucked.
Push pull and slide... oh yeah! Also why teach in an automatic??? Also watching this you're not meant to let the wheel slide through your hands as it shows a lack of control of the car and some if not most examiners will fail you for it.
This gentleman is very good. My daughter keeps referring back to him. She called me into her room to see his videos... I was amazed. My daughter has a minor learning disability that requires more time, attention and focus. Thank you, Sir, for taking the time to make these videos to help new drivers better understand what is expected of them.. (and to also help the parents..! ) *smiles
Embarrassing I have to look up videos for help on turns, but this really helped! My instructors taught me the push pull and slide thing, but I cannot get it down for the life of me. They did it fast and expected me to reciprocate so quickly, but I can't :( I'll definitely keep this tips in mind because they seemed to help. Thank you!
Im so confused, push pull or hand over hand? ive been using push pull and i literally experienced some bad turns because the push pull is too slow, my dad says that the hand over hand is faster. maybe ill just listen to my dad
I'm exactly the opposite, but yeah, I think you just have to go with what works for you. My driving instructor keeps telling me hand over hand, but I'm doing the push pull thing.
Aproach the turns at a slower speed, do the majority of the braking before you turn. Then turn the wheel smoothly, and keep it at the same degree throughout the turn. Accelerate slightly coming out of the turn, and straigthen the wheel.
This guy is awesome, he even gives life advice in his driving instruction! "Most teenagers have not learned to manage their nerves yet, and a lot of times even as adults we be nervous, but we don't let our nerves control us we control our nerves, OK?" So true, thanks man! :)
This dude is so knowledgable and his soothing and reassuring voice must really instill confidence in his students...great vid really helped alot, thanks!
I dislike caster & common steering ratios. The wheel returns to center because of positive caster, the wheels are ahead of their mounting points (like a bike), this helps the car drive straight & cambers wheels for turning but makes turning harder, & recovering from a slide, the natural camber from the caster works against you when countersteering to regain control. I like zero caster, positive camber & steering like F1, but I accept many cars aren't like this so this video was helpful. Thanks.
The driver instructor I had wouldnt let me go on the road until I MASTERED the hand over hand, which I felt I did, but no I have to PERFECTLY land in 10 and 2 or its WRONG. I wish you were my drivering instructor lol
@8LiGhTs8 Wherever you're located, I'm probably sure 10 and 2 may be useful but it can be dangerous because if a air bag deploys ( u know the rest) but either 8 and 4 or 9 and 3 may be best and hand over hand is a shocker b/c in dmv of pa hand over hand is elgible but the push-pull method was used for when I passed my road test!
WRONG WRONG WRONG! You NEVER tell a student to "let the wheel go". Here in Wisconsin it is an automatic fail for taking you hands off the wheel. Its no different than saying "look mom...no hands". How can you even claim to have a "firm grip on the wheel when the wheel is allowed to slip free from your grip? This Video is an absolute way to fail your test! I've been teaching Driver Education for years and I am also an Emergency Medical Technician. You NEVER let the wheel slide free. EVER!
thank you. I'm 23 and terrified to LEARN how to drive (yup I still don't know!). These videos are helping me slowly get used to the movements with the steering wheel.
@acapulco214 I'm 24 and same, I'm really nervous driving. These videos are actually really helpful! I love having a sort of formula for how to do this, how to do that - it gives you an effective place to start and build your own technique :D
Road test examiners do not like to see the steering wheel slide in your hands back to the center. They view that practice as a loss of steering control.
The road Test in Florida is a joke and i really hate myself for not passing it on my first try(perpendicular parking). They don't take you on the road to properly test your driving skills. I would've passed it if i was able to park properly(needs more practice) even though my road skills suck as far as turnings.
I was driving on the road before taken my DMV test today, and i made so many mistakes on my turnings. When i turn, i don't use the accelerator/Gas to quickly make the turn(Especially right turns). I usually took my driving lessons on parking lots areas and the turns are easy and smoother to demonstrate because the car is moving at 10 MPH; but i'm still having problems on how to make turns properly on the real road.
gah turning freaks me out so fuckin much.im always scared im going to turn late.going left i turn too early and im practically in the oncoming lane, tuning right i turn early as well and i cut the curb.my timing awful.
Fuck driving tests, my dudes bitch ass is gonna fail me cuz i went over the white line at a stop sign. That's because to left of me was a line of fucking trees! I couldn't see shit, while cars are coming up that road at 45 miles per hour. i guess here in PA it's either pass the test or risk your life.
@juiceboxhero12 Same thing happen to me first time taking the drivers test. Now i got to retake the permit all over again. It sucks up here Ohio. Im from pa as well
@tcw00 Haha yeah dude that must suck! I take it for the second time in 4 days, I've gone over the route they take like 50 times now, if i don't pass......Haha but goodluck to you! A lot of it is just thinking about those little things.
haha, dude. You MUST keep BOTH hands on the wheel at ALL times. Do not let go of the steering at any time, you will fail immediately. You need to keep in control at all times. Do let go of the wheel once the turn has been accomplished, but keep your palms as close to the steering wheel as possible. If you feel like you need to, let go with your left hand, but keep it an inch from the steering wheel, and directly turn the wheel in the opposite direction with the right hand until the wheel is back
I appreciate this video so much. I recently failed my drivers test miserably! Turning is a difficult thing for me. I’m gonna use the push, pull, slide technique during my next lesson. Hope it works. Thank you
Yeah I did that type of turning prior to seeing this video. Failed the road test because I "didn't have control of the wheel". Turn hand over hand and hand over hand back. DO NOT LET THE WHEEL GO!!! This is poor information.
my driving instructor says not to let go of steering wheel, after the turn becuase you could lose control of the car if your traviling over ice or wet road.
Technique only gets you so far. A combination of steering and speed needs to be controlled in harmony for good things to happen. Only experience can learn that.
Also, children shouldn't be driving a potential killing machine.

getting a driving licence is so expensive and hard in Netherlands.
First of all you must spend about 1300 euro's on lessons... before you may attempt an exam(each exam 200 euro's).
Then you must drive perfectly, one not-smooth gear change and you are failed

Driving test with Automatic Gear? wtf So you just need to steer and watch for signs? lol

Technique only gets you so far. A combination of steering and speed needs to be controlled in harmony for good things to happen. Only experience can learn that.
Also, children shouldn't be driving a potential killing machine.
