It's about unemployment in the mid-90's in England. There were only 5 channels on the telly then, and that's if you were lucky. Most of us only had 4. And even those showed only junk late at night when you're sitting there trying to stave off the boredom, but "all i could see was Doris Day" living in the nighttime and sleeping in the day because "the off peak electricity" was cheaper (2.5p per kW/h instead of 7.5p) and elecricity was expensive on a girocheque ...

Dont get me wrong i really love this track. Best track on dubnobass & it brings back fond memories but listening to the lyrics, you gotta admit, that seems to be the underlying & ongoing theme.
