One of the judges said Shogun's legkicks do not count as much because "you can't finish a fight with leg kicks". What a dumb ignorant judge. He should be banned from the panel. I'm definitely a bigger fan of Machida, but he lost this one, no question. They need to do away with decisions and let the last round go until someone loses, even if it's from exhaustion. Jackass judges shouldn't be able to hold such power over people's careers.

Shogun ran after him a couple times but didn't want to get caught rushing in. If Shogun's leg kicks were as powerful as Melvin Manoef's Machida would be in a wheel chair from leg kicks alone. The fight would have been stopped Lyoto wouldn't have been able to stand.

I'm just glad shogun got back in shape and is fighting at his potential. He was great in pride and would have been champ if he wasn't in same division with wandelrei. Now he can be the champ and maybe fight Anderson. Since Anderson won't fight his friend lyoto. Just glad shogun found his form after his surgery

When i first watched this fight i thought it was a clear win for Shogun i even said "so much for the machida era" then Machida won. Having watched the fight back i don't think it was as clear as i first thought but i still felt Shogun won the fight.

I am a machida fan, but I think shogun rua won. but not clearly...machida countered every takedown, and the only damage rua made was leg kicks, while machida kicked him to the head etc. I can understand the judges, because the kicks didn't effect machida that much and I think the commentators were talking bullshit, every time it was like 'NICE KICK FROM SHOGUN' while machida blocked it with his hand....but at the end, shogun should've been the winner but he definitely didn't 'beat' him...

Shogun was the agressor.. as well as he had the more powerful hits and counters. This is shown in the viewable damage on Machida compared to Shogun.
