If you need i have the sheet music of candlelights for piano and in a mist all for share !!! If you have flashes, in the dark just share if possible! contact me if you want candlelight and in a mist!
@Mrspraderadego I first got the piano music through inter-library loan. The book it’s in is out of print. (Ragtime: 100 Authentic Rags, Edited by David A Jasen, Published by Big 3 Music Corp., 1979).
Very nicely done, and Thank You so much for the transcription. Ry Cooder's "Flashes" was one of the triggers that set me on my guitar journey. Nearly thirty years later I'm so glad I can add it to my repertoire.
Ordinarily I yell at guitar players covering songs on utube, but this is a classic and you did it well. After all, Ry was only covering the original -even though it was his arrangement. Clever yet accessible for the home guitarist to play. Beautiful.
My only critique is that you need to play a little cleaner and let the open notes ring. But that's where it gets hard -eh? Try it on a flat-top -even though Ry probably used his L-5. I think it would sound better on an old 000.
Thank you. There is an interesting article on Wikipedia re "cover versions". Imitating and transcribing music is a time-honored part of playing an instrument. Beginners---or better players with limited time, talent or creativity---imitate for the joy of learning and to sharpen their appreciation of beloved arrangements. Jazz mentors recommend transcribing to help train the ear and mind. In fact, Flashes as published is a transcription of Bix's playing by Bill Challis.
What a wonderful tune. Bix really came up with a winner. I like your playing. For me, the tempo is spot on, and the overall sound is fantastic. Again, a big well done. I could listen to this forever.
I really like this tune. I think your playing is excellent and I commend you on the timing, and overall sound. Bix really produced a winner didn't he? Again, your playing on this is outstanding.
Bix' music sure sounds nice played on a guitar. Nice work!

Well done! I'm impressed with your playing Flashes on the solo guitar...first time I'd heard it played that way before. Keep up the good work!

ok, i'm borrowing some of your elegant
simplification and see it closer to right
speed - kudos again for this arrangement
(modd jobs version also clever) ... when
you love a tune like this, well, you gotta play it (plus, my wife likes it)

Not bad! I find this pretty tricky in parts.
gonna put down that middle part of the
piano tune yet, it's jus "how to arrange it"
Think it's time to get a guitar that plays
a little easier. see mine at ddanze

Thak you. There is a nice version of the entire composition on piano by Phillip Sear on YouTube as well.
