@meekrob I was thinking the same thing. Was there a Chicken George, too? How about the tag team of Step 'N Fetch'it and Buckwheat? Gotta love the racism of old southern promoters. Hell, the only place in the country where black wrestlers topped the card was Mid-South. JYD was god there.
as usual SD does the JOB but what a great look at all these legends this match is before Snuka and Studd went to the WWF and got really big actually Buddy Rogers was also with Snuka in WWF if memory serves Rogers "exposed" that Capt Lou Albano had been stealing all of Sunka's money! Great memories of great pro wrestlers RIP Jay Youngblood died way too soon at 30
do you have any footage of buddy rogers and tim woods feud. i would love to see that again. i think studd and snuka helped rogers and atlas and orndorff helped mr. wrestling tim woods. tks
S.D. and Burrhead were two different people. I remember BH wrestle in the Mid Atlantic and Georgia. To me, his biggest moment was taking on Dick Slater with Mr. Wrestling II at ringside taunting Slater with a brown bag. It turns out that it was a baby bonnet, bib, and bottle that II put on Slater after beating him. Slater would do a face turn after that when Stan Hansen came to Georgia.
I'm guessing this is from around 1978. That would make Rogers about 57 years old. Amazing. Imagine what it must feel like to get body-slammed when you're 57, when the most strenuus thing most males can do at that age is golf.
It's actually a different person. SD Jones competed Rufus Jones' cousin. When he left to work for the Kansas City territory, he was replaced by another "cousin", Burrhead Jones. None of them were really "Joneses". SD's name was Conrad Efraim, Rufus' name was Buster Lloyd, and Burrhead's name was Melvin Nelson.
It's funny at 3:40 everyone sees what is happening except the ref!! The good old days of wrestling.

That has to be SD, if you look at his back you can see a scar that looks like a dent, near the shoulder blade. Nobody else in wrestling had that.

That's the wrestling I grew up watching. I miss those Sat. mornings. Everybody waited all week for Mid Atlantic Wrestling.

S.D. is in this match with Rufus. Burrhead worked the territory a few years earlier.
