  • Why is everyone talking about Spielberg when we should all be talking about Truffaut?

  • At first, from the side, the young Spielberg looks a bit like a young Bill Gates. However, back then, probably everyone looked like the young Bill Gates.

  • I was picking my nose just before he mentioned nose picking.

  • speilberg truly isn't worthy he also has a hand in destroying cinema by making Michael bay and other "hollywood bullshit" to power instead if producing thought oriented films spielberg caters to audiences too much Truffaut was a thinker spielberg is not and artist of cinema still a great director though but i like the films made for adults rather than his "hollywood bullshit" kid films

  • @drstranglove79 That's an extremely simple-minded dismissal for the following reasons: 1) Blaming a source of inspiration for the inferiority of his imitators is fundamentally silly. 2) Categorizing anything "Hollywood" as "bullshit" or not "thought oriented" is very close-minded. 3) The idea that films that appeal to kids or that are made as entertainment cannot be artistically valid is ignorant. If anything is "destroying cinema" (as if any creation could destroy its medium...) it's ignorance.

  • @Skeberter thanks for replying in an intelligent way unlike most people i first found this video a couple weeks ago and probably didn't put much thought into what i was typing but I only brought up "Hollywood bullshit" because Spielberg says it in the video and I got a chuckle because his films are great but when he puts on his producers cap the results are lackluster, and I'm not saying you need a philosophical meaning to films or that box office is directly related to artistic intergrity

  • @Skeberter but you can't deny the fact that most of his movies that he produces are Thought- Less meaning no point to them other than trying to double over the money they put into them, as a director I love spielberg and can't wait for Lincoln but what Spielberg does is bring integrity to blockbuster films which is what he is known for if Jaws was a financial failure instead of the biggest grossin film at the time do you think it would be regarded as a masterpiece as it is today?

  • when i said he makes films for children i meant he caters to a larger audience and has an audience in mind even before production probably his films are more easily accessible like people will go to a Spielberg film even if they're not into film because he's so accessible, dont mean to write so much but these comment things are so small and i never get to talk films with anyone really

  • @drstranglove79 I feel you. That's possible, but I just don't think accessibility is necessarily a bad thing. Sorry if I went overboard.

  • @Skeberter no not at all I'm not used to making youtube comments in less than 500 characters and often times take up a couple comments i think its hard to put a real thought into single comment bar thing :)

  • @drstranglove79 how I understand you...

  • there is only 1 man who will ever fill hes shoes..hes name is steven spielberg.......theres no1 ever who will be a better movie maker .period

  • cheeky stevie in the end..

  • oh my god i started watching the video, and an advertisement comes on with another video and the volume is twice as loud, do you not want ppl watching ur videos or something???

  • What a snob remark ! The director who put "The Color Purple" on film deserves any one who wants to work with him.

  • Long live Jules et Jim!

  • I think Steven looks like Truffaut here. Funny too!

  • Spielberg didn't deserve to work with Truffaut, someone who created these god awful franchises. That bullshit didn't help cinema, it set Back.

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr

What a typical film snob remark. Spielberg was heavily influenced by Truffaut's work when beginning his career, hence why he asked him to be in Close Encounters. Truffaut, in turn, admired Hollywood filmmakers, especially Alfred Hitchcock, and the new generation, which included Spielberg. And what "god awful franchises" did he create? Indiana Jones? Those are classic movies, expect for the terrible Crystal Skull. You are really misinformed.

  • WOW, he DOES look like david duchovny!!!! O.o

  • Comment removed

  • @lactoseme lol! it really shocked me too. this is the man that answered rats to whats your favorite curse word on inside the actors studio

  • @lactoseme - Yeah, you never hear Marty or Coppola curse - but Spielberg said bullshit!!!

  • The young Spielberg reminds me of David Duchovny. At least they share something in common: UFOs... :P
