i hope you answer this. So i dyed my hair hoping it would be a lighter colour but it came out a very dark brown that looks black. It was really sad because now the dark brown shade i have because of the dye is even darker then my natural hair which is asian black hair but with some brown to it, it was virgin before i dyed it too. so i was wondering how i can fix it. if i let it fade for around 2 and a half months will i be able to use a blond dye to achieve a brown colour? please relpy.
Hey guys and girls just some more tips about read hear (I was a read head for 4 loong years) if you use pallette hair color it will fade and some of your garments will be colored when you sweat.So you have to watch everything for stains.Second if you have short hair die it a more bronze color so when it fades to the next coloring it will fade even.
And don`t forget to use pomegranate based shampoo it helps to keep the color red on your pretty head.Nice video thx.

ha ive had a thousand colors in my hair but now my hair is half black and half white like cruella de ville and i have blunt bangs. When you get tired of the color you should do a video on removing red! I dyed my hair red from blonde and I can't get it out. D: Luckily it had a pink base so it's not ugly per se, but it's against my school's dress code. :c
Never dye the roots first especially if you're lightening your hair/if you have virgin hair! You always start with the middle of your hair, then work your way onto the ends and roots. The roots will lighten too quickly since it is fresh virgin hair growing in!

I think your hair looks awesome and so is the chiffon top you are wearing. I went from dark brown to red recently, I had to bleach out the drk brwn dye first. I love the result but my hair felt like straw. I found Moroccan oil fantastic for correcting this. Its expensive but well worth it and better than any conditioner or treatment I have tried. My cosmetology teacher said yu can always apply darker hair dye on the roots first since it's not gonna matter nd yu can spray wet yur hair with a bit of water to make the dye go on smooth nd evenly .
i use he exact same dye. Your bet is to always wash your hair with colder water and purchase a shampoo or red hair. The cod keeps the follicle closed so that there is less wash out and the shampoo replenishes the the pink undertones so your hair doesn't turn a rusty orange color.
I'm wanting to go from a natural pure black to that kind of red (but not the gradient), I know you had lighter hair but using the 30-40 developer would it work? or would it atleast not look like it was still black? (I'm just asking, because every time i ask at a salon they always say I gotta bleach my hair like crazy before i can get it that color :/)
@lilcrazy09 I died my hair red, and so did my sister we both had dark hair. They have a hair dye that you can pick up at Wal-Mart or where ever else that is L'Oreal. They make it for dark hair. You can look on the back of the box, and they show what it looks like depending on what hair color you have. We went to salons and they said the same thing to us. However, I think the stuff was good that we bought. It was only $8.
A 30 or 40 vol developer would work, yes. You can cut out the bleaching step and just use a higher volume developer so that it lifts at the same time as it deposits the dye, and would take less time overall too since it's only 1 process. If you are going to use 30 or 40, since it's quite damaging I would suggest a few things that would help to minimise that, like.. dying on unwashed hair (the natural oils will protect your scalp and it's good for your hair anyway)-
@lilcrazy09 not using conditioner before you dye it (especially if the one you use contains silicone, the dye can't get into/stick to the hair as easily), but using a deep condition treatment afterwards and leaving it on for a long time. Don't forget to use a lower volume mix at your roots than the lengths, the heat from your head speeds up the processing. You don't want "hot roots" where it's lighter than the rest of your hair. Adding a colour ontop of bleached hair fades faster too
Also, a tip for anybody else reading this, 10 vol (3%) peroxide developer and lower doesn't lift hair, it only deposits, so its less damaging and since you're not lightening the hair, the colour won't fade as fast :)
I use 10 vol when dying my mum's grey roots too haha and it's SO much better than just using a box dye (which usually contain 20 vol developer), the dye takes over a month to start fading even just a little.
@Aerieana You seem to know about this so i'll ask.My hair is a very dark brown almost black. I bought a 40 developer and the lady at the store told me that it would be fine but next time I should by a 30. She said the 40 would make it more pinkish. However now I'm freaking out because everything i read says that a 40 will fry your hair and that you should never use it unless you're a professional. Should I take it back and exchange it, and if it DID work would it give me a more pinkish color?
If you used a 40, it probably would show up more pink than pink-red, yes and also would be lighter and brighter in general. The colour would also probably fade faster, cause there's less natural pigment for it to hold onto. I would exchange the 40 for a 30, 40 really should not be used on the roots at all and you don't wanna give yourself chemical burns. Don't forget to start with your ends, and do your roots last. If you're really unsure, do a strand test.
@kaatvc91 For when you re-dye your hair after it fades/your roots grow out, you won't need 30 vol, it will only lighten your hair more and is unnecessary damage. I use a 10 vol now to keep up the colour and do my roots, though it comes out slightly darker (up to 1 level darker). You could use 20 if you still want it bright, you'd have to do your roots last again with 20. With a 10vol you can put it all over and it turns out even, the heat from your head makes up for the lower volume.
;o I (re)dyed my hair with this exact colour last night, I love it so much. Why did you use 30 vol developer though for your whole head?! D: The dye contains ammonium hydroxide which helps with colour lift anyways.
My roots were about a level 3, and even with just a 10 vol developer they lifted to the same level as the rest of my hair. If I was you I would've used just 20 or 30 vol on the roots, and a 10 on the lengths. Using 30 vol on your already lightened ends only damages them more o_o;
I dyed my hair bright pink, but I had to bleach it first and I used a really crap quality bleach with a 30vol developer. -_- I ended up having to cut most of my hair off because it was so damaged. );

To wash out your hair color Head & Shoulders shampoo against dandruff works great. And with that said, using that shampoo as your regular shampoo when you've got dyed hair is. Well. It makes your color fade really fast. And the same goes for their shampoo that's supposed to be for dyed hair. It kills color.
I don't like red hair due to it fading so fast, but I've had pretty much every hair color you can have (besides brown, yellow and orange). Fun colors make me happy.

Question answered. :) I feel like the little mermaid too! :D I did pretty much the same exact thing you did - I was thinking about doing ombre hair because it looked really cool on heyyyjune. I wanted a dark red gradient. Didn't even come close. I think it'll fade quickly (it hardly stuck to my skin). If you google 'red and black hair', in images, the 6th pic is of the girl with pigtails - I sooo wish my hair looked like hers. :/

ha ive had a thousand colors in my hair but now my hair is half black and half white like cruella de ville and i have blunt bangs. And my aunt dyed her hair red like yours and she had it for 3 months but redyed it cuz it was so high maitanance and had to redye it every 2 weeks to keep the color bright and then she just switched to black hair with red tips like and ombre effect :P

I love red hair, it's so cool! but it goes away so fast! two years ago I bleeched before dying and it looked really red but my hair was so dead... I decided to go back to red one month ago (without bleeching), and now it looks like chocolate with red reflexions... it's very expensive to keep red shiny and vibrant. But I love it! and i think it looks great on you!

When you get tired of the color you should do a video on removing red! I dyed my hair red from blonde and I can't get it out. D: Luckily it had a pink base so it's not ugly per se, but it's against my school's dress code. :c

Never dye the roots first especially if you're lightening your hair/if you have virgin hair! You always start with the middle of your hair, then work your way onto the ends and roots. The roots will lighten too quickly since it is fresh virgin hair growing in!

I think your hair looks awesome and so is the chiffon top you are wearing. I went from dark brown to red recently, I had to bleach out the drk brwn dye first. I love the result but my hair felt like straw. I found Moroccan oil fantastic for correcting this. Its expensive but well worth it and better than any conditioner or treatment I have tried. My cosmetology teacher said yu can always apply darker hair dye on the roots first since it's not gonna matter nd yu can spray wet yur hair with a bit of water to make the dye go on smooth nd evenly .

i use he exact same dye. Your bet is to always wash your hair with colder water and purchase a shampoo or red hair. The cod keeps the follicle closed so that there is less wash out and the shampoo replenishes the the pink undertones so your hair doesn't turn a rusty orange color.

Out of past experience, red has been the HARDEST colour to maintain and keep in my hair. Blue stays in the best for some reason.

I'm wanting to go from a natural pure black to that kind of red (but not the gradient), I know you had lighter hair but using the 30-40 developer would it work? or would it atleast not look like it was still black? (I'm just asking, because every time i ask at a salon they always say I gotta bleach my hair like crazy before i can get it that color :/)

@lilcrazy09 I died my hair red, and so did my sister we both had dark hair. They have a hair dye that you can pick up at Wal-Mart or where ever else that is L'Oreal. They make it for dark hair. You can look on the back of the box, and they show what it looks like depending on what hair color you have. We went to salons and they said the same thing to us. However, I think the stuff was good that we bought. It was only $8.

A 30 or 40 vol developer would work, yes. You can cut out the bleaching step and just use a higher volume developer so that it lifts at the same time as it deposits the dye, and would take less time overall too since it's only 1 process. If you are going to use 30 or 40, since it's quite damaging I would suggest a few things that would help to minimise that, like.. dying on unwashed hair (the natural oils will protect your scalp and it's good for your hair anyway)-

@lilcrazy09 not using conditioner before you dye it (especially if the one you use contains silicone, the dye can't get into/stick to the hair as easily), but using a deep condition treatment afterwards and leaving it on for a long time. Don't forget to use a lower volume mix at your roots than the lengths, the heat from your head speeds up the processing. You don't want "hot roots" where it's lighter than the rest of your hair. Adding a colour ontop of bleached hair fades faster too

Also, a tip for anybody else reading this, 10 vol (3%) peroxide developer and lower doesn't lift hair, it only deposits, so its less damaging and since you're not lightening the hair, the colour won't fade as fast :)
I use 10 vol when dying my mum's grey roots too haha and it's SO much better than just using a box dye (which usually contain 20 vol developer), the dye takes over a month to start fading even just a little.

@Aerieana You seem to know about this so i'll ask.My hair is a very dark brown almost black. I bought a 40 developer and the lady at the store told me that it would be fine but next time I should by a 30. She said the 40 would make it more pinkish. However now I'm freaking out because everything i read says that a 40 will fry your hair and that you should never use it unless you're a professional. Should I take it back and exchange it, and if it DID work would it give me a more pinkish color?

If you used a 40, it probably would show up more pink than pink-red, yes and also would be lighter and brighter in general. The colour would also probably fade faster, cause there's less natural pigment for it to hold onto. I would exchange the 40 for a 30, 40 really should not be used on the roots at all and you don't wanna give yourself chemical burns. Don't forget to start with your ends, and do your roots last. If you're really unsure, do a strand test.

@kaatvc91 For when you re-dye your hair after it fades/your roots grow out, you won't need 30 vol, it will only lighten your hair more and is unnecessary damage. I use a 10 vol now to keep up the colour and do my roots, though it comes out slightly darker (up to 1 level darker). You could use 20 if you still want it bright, you'd have to do your roots last again with 20. With a 10vol you can put it all over and it turns out even, the heat from your head makes up for the lower volume.

;o I (re)dyed my hair with this exact colour last night, I love it so much. Why did you use 30 vol developer though for your whole head?! D: The dye contains ammonium hydroxide which helps with colour lift anyways.
My roots were about a level 3, and even with just a 10 vol developer they lifted to the same level as the rest of my hair. If I was you I would've used just 20 or 30 vol on the roots, and a 10 on the lengths. Using 30 vol on your already lightened ends only damages them more o_o;

To wash out your hair color Head & Shoulders shampoo against dandruff works great. And with that said, using that shampoo as your regular shampoo when you've got dyed hair is. Well. It makes your color fade really fast. And the same goes for their shampoo that's supposed to be for dyed hair. It kills color.
I don't like red hair due to it fading so fast, but I've had pretty much every hair color you can have (besides brown, yellow and orange). Fun colors make me happy.

now, i used the exact same dye(except bright red)...same everything except i was trying to have it all the same color.. somehow (and it makes sense) my roots are only bright red...then it goes to a weird but kind of awesome cherry blackish red...and then to black(my old extensions) now, the hilighter does your roots and new regrowth amazingly, but what is a brand that will get you 100% that color all over? i havent really found one yet :/
