@caxxandra2 oh damn, i missed pee wee again!! im too busy using up all my characters here. you know what?have any of you heard "huto merta" by al di miola? yah 'cause it's a hell of a song too! and anybody that likes this song should also like " big town 2061" by paris, and actually everything on that album is great. and you probably already know this one, but just in case, you must go check out "reptile" by "church" i think they must have known my x donna when they wrote it so it has sentimen
@gsmac1969 ok, i don't know why i thought..... well probably because these words freur doot doot just sound german to me, my bad, thanx for the info, and this just tickles me pink to find someone else who likes the same kinda music i do!! for the last 10 yrs, i had two girlfriends niether of which liked my music, so it's just been along time you know? now, i have no girlfriend and so i can enjoy what i want. and i like the' korgis' everybodies gotta learn sometime' and 'shes not there' by zombie
@wadeut i have the song /"hey ho away we go, b-side from devidl and darkness i guess. , write to me with your email. greetings from germany. i hope to find the original video doot doot in youtube.
Welsh is a very unusual language. I remember interviewing Super Fury Animals and their accents wer crazy. I think Gene Loves Jezebel are also Welsh. Brian Jones of the Rolling Stone's family were from Wales. Mystical, hobbit land.
I've never heard this version. It is equally as pleasant as the other version. Is it me or does this version sound a bit otherworldly (listen at 2:16-2:35). It is like the early Welsh version of Sigur Ros's Hopelandic.

HAHAHAHAH yeah okay youd probably like that wouldnt you ya fag? I bet youd want me to play this song too and go DOOT DOOT! well too bad i never will ya fucking creep.
This is so cool and interesting to see. They definately look like an art band, but I don't know much about them. I have loved the album version and promo video. It is a beautiful song. Thanks.
I wholly agree, they were very avant-garde. They had a wide array of sounds that would eventually become established genres and sub-genres (shoegaze, new wave, synth, etc).
If that is not John on vocals, I too would like to know his name. The blurring of English and Welsh makes one think of Jonsi from Sigur Ros scant singing.
Is there a way to get a audio file of this version?
This is 100% Freur. Karl is on guitar, Alfie is on the left and Rick is on the right. Can't tell from this video if the drummer is Bryn, but judging by his movements I'd say it was him! Freur started out as Screen Gems with a different singer. This must have been filmed during the change of name and line up. Great archive though!
@DESNELL hey how do you know so much about freur? this has got to be my all time favorite song. and also someone told me they became underworld, is that true?
Certainly looks like Karl on that hollow body. Although I remember him usually playing it strung higher on his body. Must be a very early iteration of the group.
Can anyone provide a translation for the introduction?
I was told in the 80s that Freur were singing in their own invented language but they came from Wales so I think they're singing in Welsh here which is pretty much an outer space language to English people.

Wow! This is so strange! I've never seen this before! What's the singer's name? I take this is before John joined the band?
The Doot Doot album is a favorite of mine, an underappreciated classic of the 80's!

absoluteley it is so underappreciated.. i think it is one of the anthems of the beggining of new wave...

Here's a translation, no great revelations but she implies there was more Freur music later in the same show...
"Freur have been in Studio Star 2 before, some of them with Screen Gemz. They're a group of lads furthering music of the future.
One thing that's very difficult to do is saying their name, this is how it's spelled - Freur.
But without saying more, here's the group and their first song for today, namely Doot Doot."
