BTW, research suggests that asanas have an origin in Danish gymnastics. The range is more recent than the rest of the yogic practices. When India was trying to win its freedom from England, they added the asanas to their ancient yogic practices (prana, philospohy, existing meditative poses) to encourage strong bodies and thus strong minds. Filtering the asanas through yoga only stengthens the practice in my mind. What a great way to introduce Westerners to the gifts of Eastern thought. Namaste.
Seane Corn's practice and insight is inspirational to me. Is it commercial? Perhaps. Is it heartfelt? Yes, I truly believe it is. Who cares if it's commercial if it leads others to higher levels? It doesn't mean you've joined a cult. If she arouses your negativity, face your own demons within-it is you, not her. Many may take up yoga for exercise purposes...but some will find their way into the deeper levels. Isn't it worth it if yoga turns even one more person toward a positive path?
I love the video she made in which she does some of those great yoga stretches in front of her admirers. I wish i was there to see it live and thank her for her efforts of getting people into doing yoga. Thanks Seane Corn with all my love, Namaste. Y : ) x
Sounds to me like you are pretty good at attracting arguments but anyway, you still don't have a clue what you are talking about, you just don't know.
The reason I asked the question is that these days there really is no difference just under the surface but that aside, this is a public forum and don't you think it would be boring if everybody agreed and everybody only wrote things that everyone else was happy with ??
yea guess so, i see where you are comming from with the dance/gymnastics thing like a performance rather than a personal disipline but it dose look imppressive when sombody can do it well so i dont see the harm in it, as long as whats underneath is not being skipped if that makes sense.
that's truth!! However, there are many ppl here that only want happy copies of their sentiments written in the comments.
I have to say that I agree with how commercialized yoga has become, and a few are certainly getting rich off of it - but then, this is America, and that is what makes it such a great country. And if it helps more people come to yoga, then it can't be all that bad.
Well America was a great country but it's not any more, unfortunately. Part of the reason it's not so great anymore is that too many people accepted anything and everything as "being ok" whether it be the banks and corporations, the government or the day to day pseudo-spiritual half-truths such as this woman is giving out whilst charging heaps at the door.
well, I won't argue that america doesn't have it's issues, I began questioning the intelligence of 50-some % of my fellow-countrymen after the last presidential election. But, I would still rather live here than anywhere else.
Yes, but shockingly, you do not quote or cite to anything but your own negativity, but hold yourself out as someone who does know what they're talking about (in case you missed it, I don't think you haven any idea what you're talking about).
Quote ? Cite ? What the hell are you talking about ?
This is quite simply a public forum where comments and opinions can be posted. I gave my view and if you don't like what I write you can get a big black dog up ya !
I cannot adequately find the right words.. you can really 'feel' her intentions in her face and movement. That is a lesson for us all to learn from. Thank you and Namaste.
Dearest Seane, I find your yoga video so inspiring and most of all i'm madly, deeply in love with yoga for the last 15 years. Keep up the good work and may your yoga journeys are so deeply inspiring. Namaste Y : )

I dont mean to be disrespectful. But I could not have done this when I was 16 and
athletic, so how am I supposed to do this when I am 55. I think indeed she can name
it " Body Prayer" because my Lord I am praying I would not break my spine if I even
tried it.

Wow look at all your groupies signing in here, they clearly love your gymnastics, you are a true show pony !
A great little ego trip no doubt.
cspace1234nz 2 years ago
cspace1234nz i dont realy practice yoga but i can tell you ou are wrong.
1. they not groupies
2. it's not gymnastics
3. she's not doing it for show nor is she a pony
4. it's not meant to be an ego trip, think of it as sombody sharing their learning with other people.
simyan2008 2 years ago
Well you admit that you don't practice yoga for a start so really you don't know what you are talking about then do you ?
This is the bastardised version of yoga people in the west have turned into an ego stroking, money making pursuit.
Does she do this for free ?
You just don't know what you are talking about.
cspace1234nz 2 years ago
you cant do stuff for free in this world as you have to make a living fool.
i dont know what i am talking about?
YOU dont know what i am talking about obv.
and you can bet anything you like that people charge for yoga classes in india as well.
i could say more but can't be bothered.
you just another idiot looking for an arguement it seems.

cspace1234nz 2 years ago
ok so you call it gymnastics and you say i dont know what i am talking about.
there are many kinds of yoga.
i see you reason for calling it gymnastics as an insult, but it is not anything like gymnastics.
i dont think you would get a very good score for doing yoga poses in a gymnastics class but there you have it.
simyan2008 2 years ago
ps. do you practice yoga?
i am curious.
:)
simyan2008 2 years ago
Answer me this then, what is the difference between yoga and gymnastics, or dance even ??
And seeing as you asked, yes, I have been practicing yoga for a lot of years.
cspace1234nz 2 years ago
what is the difference?
it would be alot faster to say what is not different.
you dont need me to tell you and maybe you are assuming i am stupid,(i would expect better from sombody who spent years practising yoga)
what is the same about gymnastics and yoga would be a shorter answer. there are HUGE differences.
like i said before i am not looking for an arguement but please give people some credit for what they do or just leave them alone.

like i said there are many kinds of yoga some focus only on the body some on the mind as well some are just breathing techniques.
i honestly don't know which one is being shown in this vid or if she is making it up herself.
if it helps people to focus thier energy on somthing important then it can't be bad can it?

Yes, your negative ranting is MUCH more in tune with the "first, do no harm" principles of "true" Yoga...
mstea001 2 years ago
In your opinion of course.
So we should just all be all nice and fluffy, never say anything about anything and accept anything and everything that comes along shouldn't we ?
Another who doesn't know what they are talking about, attempting to quote yoga texts with some kind of insight and understanding.
Arse !
